Happened to be in London Halloween time pre covid and they were playing Cruelty in full so had to head along I reckon as good as you could get from CoF in a live environment Schoolcraft and the spinny guitarist clearly a cut above what they left with recently.

Went to an indoor thing in the Netherlands since where they were on the bill must have being having a gander here and there on social in the build up I guess that my interactions led me to get a notification some Zoe has invited you to like their page.

Who? I go check it out and shes apparently the new girl on keys in CoF,okay.

She certainly used this to push her band Catalyst Crime if you want a laugh check out their material.

In CoF I suppose shes serviceable without leaving much of an impression this thing shes the lead singer doesn't have a strong vocal and on some songs is even appearing to channel Dani vocals.

Funny it was her page I first read the recent drama to flood in.

New contract displayed forbids side projects maybe the stumbling block that stung the most.

Her new husband Pinhead was in the band for over a decade he knew the craic.

Issues with work environment taking its toll and labelling abuse is one thing, blaming the loss of a child is quite a dazzler to be thrown at you I'm sure.

Looked up Spinny guitar chap see what hes up to since he must have left over similar, Richard Shaw his new gig is now with Inglorious given Nathan James strikes me as the classic rock version of Dani Filth I'd be curious if terms are miles better than Filth.

London is London but given the way things have worked out for them could very well be the last time Wales see them.

You'd hope the Hatebreed lads are over taking in the Sabbath event as on 15 mins after doors to play 20 mins is hardly worth the journey.

The bare half hour for Mastodon is pretty criminal aswell.

Quote from: yknaa on June 26, 2025, 01:22:15 PMJust on the support, I expected little from Halestorm but thought they were decent enough. Yer man's drum solo made me laugh. Maiden were class as usual. Wondered if 'Powerslave, 2 mins & Rime' might drag but far from it, thought it worked really well

Credit where it's due Halestorm are around a long time and mostly drew from an album that isn't even released yet.

Rime had some of the best visuals, brilliant evening. Organisation could have been better in a few regards. Queues to the dart were sizeable but moved quick that it wasn't so taxing.

Quote from: Carnage on June 26, 2025, 12:34:39 PMJust looking at some photos there, some crowd at it. That must be the biggest audience they've played to in Ireland surely (unless the Belfast show a coupla years ago was bigger)? What was it, 20,000?
I'd say so they did play RDS years ago with Marilyn Manson and Turbonegro. Bigger capacity but tickets sales here for them stronger now I suspect.

Quote from: leatherface on June 24, 2025, 10:20:42 PMDoro and Scorpions are not to be relagated to the Dustbin of history, clueless noobie non metal head commment

As for Papa Roach , yes, not sure why they were included.

They were included because Korn, Slipknot and Limp Bizkit played for their first times in recent years and were presumably lapped up.

Never heard size of band come into it as regards Wacken it isn't really a factor. They typically bring in one Mega act and the rest are bands of reasonable stature in the metal scene getting to put on a bells and whistles show they might not be afforded elsewhere.

Papa Roach just played a run of sold out big halls in Germany they are bigger than the academy band you may equate to here. Got to realise the 80s nostalgia days are drying up. Nostalgia is now hitting the mid 00s now. Linkin Park are selling out stadiums minus the most regarded member of them it's absolutely bananas!

Wacken hardly affected by timing there is clearly more metal festivals during that period!! Brutal Assault,Bloodstock,Summer Breeze,Reload,Rockstadt,Beyond the Gates,Alcatraz,Dynamo etc etc.

Quote from: Carnage on February 28, 2025, 02:54:34 PMI thought he slipped or tripped when he was running out at the beginning, something like that? Like I said, I didn't pay them much heed, only heard about it after.
It was Willie Adler who got some hop yeah very first song but this was also at the Megadeth support that Randy was set upon prior not the Slayer gig at all.

Quote from: yknaa on November 25, 2024, 12:38:16 PMFantastic! Great stuff. Never seen UDO. First time he played here I wonder?
Only with Accept back in the 80s I'd say.

Ya I did too and fancied another round of that but if the FOD title track makes the cut we'll leave them off.

I was actually in early doors.

Having been apprehensive about Butcher Babies who ended up playing without a bassist even that first band made them feel like Led Zeppelin, truly horrific stuff. Yer wan was in some competition to keep up with her overlapping backing track  ;D .

High Parasite were relatively decent but can't say I'd revisit their work however. Only twigged it was the guy from My Dying Bride.

Butcher Babies just a nothing band, gas to watch people so into them. No real business on any of the bills they've been attributed to lately. That said high energy less gimmicky than the last time I caught with Charlie Benates missus on dual vocals. It's easy to grant them some positivity after that Satellite shower.

Cradle were grand, stellar but no more.

Schoolcraft was a better fit but newish girl done a job. Felt really short no Cradle to Enslave. Wouldn't be rushing back myself either in the immediate, catch them at a festival down the road no doubt.

Just Belfast tickets available now.

On slight inspection High Parasite are somewhat like Borknagar or Paradise Losty even, maybe worth a gawk but it would mean being in proximity of Butcher Babies music directly after.

Caught Testament recently wasn't billed they were doing it but set was solely from first 2 albums only. Personally I don't mind a repeat of such, on fire!

Are Anthrax closing the night here for certain? Clearly Anthrax are bigger in the UK but here that's easily up in the air here they didn't pack the Academy for their best album in full and they've (only?) been back as a common tag team partner to Slayer since.

Belfast sold out.

Black Satellite added to the support bill.
