This is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about. I'm giving KC a clean slate since the warning yesterday. If something racist gets posted from here onwards, report the post and I'll ban him. Otherwise, please stop taking the bait.

To post images you need to use a direct link to the image itself, not a link to a page which contains an image. The link should end in .jpg .png or any other format. ImgBB also lists "BBCode" when you upload an image. You can paste this and it'll already contain the img tags needed.

General Discussion / Re: Coronavirus
August 15, 2026, 01:17:29 PM
Can everyone please dial it back a notch? I understand COVID is a heated subject with strong opinions on both sides. I don't want to be deleting posts, banning people, locking threads etc, but this shit is spilling out all over the forum with arguments following from one thread to another. This is a music discussion forum which has general discussion on the side but it's sliding into a politics forum which overwhelms the other topics and drives other people away. Personally, I'd ban it altogether but that's not what people want so I haven't done it. There's countless other places online to engage in this level of discussion. The internet in general has turned into a place where it's impossible to tell what's real/satire/trolling and I'm starting to see the same thing here. If you want to disagree/debate then do it with some integrity instead of posting insults and slurs.

It puts me in an impossible situation where if I take any action I'm stifling free speech or part of some big cover-up. If I do nothing then everything devolves into shit and I'm enabling or encouraging extremist beliefs. I'm aware this forum has already gained a somewhat negative reputation for some of the stuff which gets posted here without getting deleted. It's becoming clear the "very little moderation" approach isn't working, or at least isn't compatible with the kind of forum I want to be responsible for running.

I got called out on this before so I'm going to do it in public this time: KC, I've already given you a warning and explained I've given you a chance with a 2nd account. If you continue, you will be banned again and further accounts will not be allowed. Again, you're welcome to discuss your opinions or beliefs, but you're going to have to post them in a more civil manner. You're not the only person responsible, but you are the biggest shit-stirrer.

For the trolls: please stop trolling. For everyone else: please stop feeding the trolls. Everyone please take a step back and take a breath before engaging in back-and-forth internet arguments. If things don't calm down, the only way forward is to hand out warnings/bans, or shift all these threads to a new section where everyone is free to argue amongst themselves.

Musicians forum / Re: DIY releases

I've both made my own and got them professionally duplicated. I picked up an old Denon DRM-550 for very cheap and it has a volume meter which made it easy to get levels right. If you have a general understanding of audio you shouldn't have any problems.

Tapes are pretty cheap even in small runs so beyond doing 5-10 DIY it's maybe worth looking at duplication. It's been about 15 years but I used https://tapeline.info which does duplication or you can buy a decent selection of cassettes/colours/labels etc if you're wanting to do it all yourself.

There's also different materials for the actual magnetic tape itself (standard, chrome, metal) which supposedly have an impact on the sound quality but I've never went down that road.

2 shows have been added to the start of this tour

Tickets €53.85

29th August 2026 - The Ambassador Theatre Dublin
30th August 2026 - Limelight Belfast

I haven't seen any word on support. "Solo tour" makes it seem like it might just be him?

"Member Positions" is something built into the forum software which I've disabled for the most part but I'd forgotten to remove it from being displayed on the member list. It allows you to gain new ranks based on number of posts, or the amount of points earned by others liking/disliking your posts. You're in the shit pit because you've opted in to view KCs special hidden board

DNS changes can sometimes take 72 hours to propagate. Your screenshot shows it's still trying to connect through cloudflare which it shouldn't be anymore. It's been 3 days now so hopefully everybody's DNS has updated. Still let me know if there's any errors.

As of my previous post on 31st Dec the site is no longer using cloudflare and is now using a certificate issued by "Let's Encrypt". If anyone is seeing a cloudflare error can you post a screenshot or other details? It would suggest there's some caching issue.

I'm not experiencing the previously mentioned duckduckgo browser warning anymore either. If anyone is still getting it can you see if you can get details of the certificate it's using? If it's erroring on the new certificate then there's more work to be done.

I was getting a cloudflare error which was preventing me from connecting. Not sure if it was impacting others or for how long. It should be fixed now. Apologies for any downtime.

Yes, one of the downsides of running behind Cloudflare to defend against the bots

I can reproduce this on my end but I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm unaware of any issues with the certificate and the DDG browser gives no details on why it thinks the certificate is invalid. I've opened a support ticket with DDG to get more info.

You generally wouldn't want to, but in this case you'll be fine clicking "Accept Risk and Visit Site" since the site does have a valid SSL certificate (ssllabs link below), otherwise you'll need to wait for DDG to respond to me.

Is anyone else seeing similar issues with their setup?
