I just ordered these guys' MLP from Soulseller- it's a few veterans of the Norwegian BM scene (Dødheimsgard, Ulver and some others). Their entire aesthetic might make you expect something modern and urban sounding but actually it's old school in its production, aggressive in its style and highly energetic and diverse in its vocal approach. Intriguing stuff.

Good stuff. Sounds pretty generic at the start but starts to get more interesting from the 2 min mark on...
I'd argue traditional over generic, but that's semantics I suppose! Because I was expecting something modern, and possibly current-era Ulverish, it took me pleasantly by surprise. It's maybe more in line with old DHG but with more theatrical vocals. It scratches the itch for me.
The full EP is streaming now. Four songs, three of which sound very good but, oddly, the opening song is a bit shit going purely on my first listen. It sounds like generic D-Beat hardcore and doesn't display the same creativity or depth as the other songs. Might be a grower, of course, and the other three songs sound very promising so I'm looking forward to my copy arriving.
Loving this EP. The first song is actually not as bad as I originally thought. The vocals are savage.
Listening to this again for the first time in a while. Seems to have more or less slipped off the radar which is a pity as it's a brilliant EP. I can't wait to hear a full length of this stuff, but maybe without the unnecessary d-beat.
Yes this was a surprisingly great EP for me. I wasnt even aware of the clientele involved when I first heard it but it made complete sense on discovery (if that makes sense). The dynamics work perfectly and some great musicianship on display in flashes without overdoing shit. I also hadnt copped it was an EP when I first heard it so definitely wanted more by the time it had finished. Defo ones to keep an eye out for with a full-length
Haven't the slightest who is involved etc but the track up there is actually very good. I was nearly thinking about buying and listening to it more than once before the end
Looks like the lads have a full length recorded. I hope it's not too long a wait until its release.
Music is good but the vocals are not my cup of tea.
I think they are the business. They cover quite a lot of ground.

Open Face Surgery alerted me to this. It somehow snuck under my radar. I think the song is pretty damn good, if a bit standard in comparison with some of the more adventurous songs on the EP. It has a melancholy feel to it which works. I've no doubt the album will have more complexity and adventurousness, and I'm really looking forward to picking it up. One of the more interesting BM bands on the go, in my opinion.

I'm not big into either of these bands (but should be, once I get around to it)
But there appears to be a mix of early Ulver and Mgła
Vocalist is great btw

Woops. Just read the start of the thread ... Ulver :)
I don't hear Mgła by yeah, that morose riffing has a lot of Ulver in it.
Still not convinced by them. The first track on the EP is painful and the rest doesn't really do a whole for me. It's just like a slightly more aggro current day Enslaved with flourishes of the last DHG.
That's a very decent track, the riffing (and drumming) reminds me of the Ulver début for sure.
Nice one.
This makes the first tune sound ballistic in comparison. A total dud.

Is an odd one to release as a single but it's something that sounds like it would make sense at the start or the end of the album. But then, I'm more likely to defend it as I'm predisposed to liking it as I have been looking forward to something new from them for ages.
DVEN seen to be dividing opinion but I have to say I think they are doing something really interesting. Songwriting I believe it's called :P They aren't the darkest BM band in the world but they have other qualities that really work for me. I went to order the book CD edition and with postage to Oz it was seventy fucking euro! Me bollix! Its not THAT good  I ended up settling for the pauper digi CD instead and now I'm hoping it won't take months and months to arrive. Let's find out...
Divisive between those with taste and those without? Haven't even bothered with it.
I'm standing my ground.
Watching footage of them live from Prophecy Feet and they deliver. I have to go back to the album. The production is a bit tame- the guitars are way too low in the mix- but the songs are really good.
