The summer is nearly gone. You'd missed the oul football, didn't you? I know that there was the Women's World Cup, The African Nations Cup and the Copa America but I mean real football. Proper football. Not that any of the aforementioned aren't great, of course but I'm talking the football where you know 80% of the players at least.

Coutinho wondering what happened to his career as himself and Eric Lamela try to pull in a Sheffield Wetherspoons after drawing with 1-1 with the Blades.

Jack Cork toe-poking the ball out of the mud on a pissing rain Tuesday night in December at Turf Moor.

Steve Bruce looking like your uncle whose wife has just left him but who still turns up at a wedding - every weekend.

Arsenal supporters chanting that they're going to win the Premiership in November and by March looking at hotels in Azerbaijan while they hoping they'll make the Europa League.

Rafa Benitez swooping in like Batman to save some relegation threatened club.

Newcastle supporters sending up the Rafa-signal.

Fellas telling you they have always, ALWAYS! followed Man City.

Lampard getting a bollocking from Chelsea supporters while John Terry hangs around their dressing room in his manager's suit in case they win anything.

Spurs fans shitting themselves that Pochettino will leave.

Man Utd fans shitting themselves that Solskjær will stay.

Jurgen Klopp doing the electric boogaloo in the technical area after hearing there's 4 minutes of extra time.

All the things that make football great.

I'm thoroughly looking forward to it myself, I always complain every year saying the game is gone to shit and then suffer from withdrawals during the summer

Same here. Pre-seasonal affect disorder.

Liverpool kept me occupied for longer than usual this season - thank fuck they won something.

No doubt at some point around Christmas, I'll be fed up of the whole thing until late January (after the transfer window closes) and then the love will come back.

How wrong I was.

Just a heads up - unlimited free transfers until 1700hrs. The league is tight at the top. 3 teams within touching (social) distance.

Once you have your own team picked, you can join by clicking the link. Also, for those in it last year there should be a renew leagues option under the Leagues tab. Failing that, Stout and Ale will have a code you can type in.

A great idea that is sure to add a bit of spice to the bottom of the league. We should get brainstorming. Hopefully it isn't the russian breakfast!

Kicking myself for not getting him in. He is right cheap for the return so far. Lucky enough had Richarlison and Rodriguez so got away with it to an extent. Amazing how playing the FPL enhances the whole shebang to the extent that every game is meaningful

I knew I had to get an Everton player in with their fixture list being pretty promising at the moment. Narrowed it down to Digne or Bowen. Went Digne.  >:(

Bittersweet addendum - Kane would have been my man out for the Everton Inzhagi, will  gladly take the goal and four assists, nice one Harry, keep ye another while ( especially with the Bale cavalry on the way)

Fuck knows what's gonna happen at The Bridge now. I have no players from either, could be absolute carnage points wise. Yikes!

I haven't a single city player on my team. You never know who is going to get the starts with them except maybe De Bruyne who is a bit pricey for me at the minute. Have Zaha in there as well. 28 points from the first 2 to play for me this weekend so far. Hope the good run continues.

Great finish to this year's league. It was up for grabs going right down to the last game day. Top four could have gone anyway at all.

Congrats to Hick and Gourd FC.

From a personal point of view - I did my usual top 6 dalliance until Christmas then second-guessed and shit-housed myself for 5 months. This year I was so bad that I finished just above people who I am convinced stopped playing after week 1.

I will say that this year was the hardest season so far to maintain an interest in both FPL and EPL.

I did middling but paid attention until Christmas, think I looked at my team once since then but trundled along.  Got roped in last week again to fix my team ahead of the last game in order to beat a lad in another small league, lost anyway, now the forfeit for losing is either going up croagh patrick barefoot or a quick waterboarding.  It has yet to be decided.

Came out somewhere in the middle of this league here too, I was The Papi Collection anyway, can't even remember what points I had now.  But I'll play it again next season, with more effort.

Finished strongly and nabbed 5th place having been outside the top twenty before xmas. Hamstrung badly by having Mitrovic on board for the first few months while the likes of Bamford was running riot.
This euros one looks well complicated, anyone else looking at it?

Well done lad, what was your overall finishing position do you know, must have been well up? I saw that the overall leader lost it on the last day of the season after being in first place for around twenty weeks. The guy behind him captained Mane on the last day and nailed him.

Finally remembered to do up my team last night so I'm in.  I autopicked last year, bad move.  This year I actually thought about how I was putting it together, which ultimately means nothing because I don't even watch football.  It's good craic all the same.

The lad who won our work one the past few years never watches a bit of football. Does it all on stats, trends and data.

He's some craic to talk to in the pub...

Yeah ,well done to Partonos, I finished second, couldn't catch him at all,  when he captained Coutinho on his double gameweek haul, he pulled away into the distance. Thought Rugged Island was going to pip me for second after his De Bruyne haul a couple of weeks back , good season there too. Around 400 pts off the overall top places though ,so we've work to do next year.

Oh and get this for two genius last day transfers, Cash AND Countinho out  :(

A couple of real battlers in the top 5 again; Rugged Island, Devil's XI, Cookie and Piccalilli Shinpads. It was very tight for a while but Partonos eventually finished 70 points clear.
