The site and forum will be going down for maintenance at midnight. Hopefully shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes. An update will be posted when complete.
Done! :)
Hopefully the site will be a little speedier now
The forum will be going down for a short time around midnight for some updates. Shouldn't be more than a couple of minutes.
The update will log everyone out, so anybody who is automatically signed in will need to log in again!
I'll update this post when it's completed.
Update: Done!
The forum will be going down for some large updates at 11pm (10 mins from now). Quite a big update so it could be down for an hour or so.
Updates complete! The forum now has a slightly different appearance and there will probably be tweaks over the next few days. Let me know if anything is broken.
Looks a bit more streamlined, fair play. I wouldn't be a fan of the big blue & white banner at the bottom of the page but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
I wasn't a fan of that either. It's gone now.
Any other feedback is appreciated. Too much blue going on around the place? Buttons/links missing or new functionality getting in the way or not needed?
I'm also not much of a mobile user so I'll probably not pick up on any issues on mobile devices unless they're raised here, although the new update should improve compatibility on mobile in general.
Think it looks good here on mobile. Bit of getting used to but no harm.
Maybe a bit too much colour? The weird green marking the sticky threads, the white window for the quick reply, for example.
Bit of getting used to alright. As Black Shepherd said the white quick reply box is a bit jarring against the black of the main body of the page.
Another minor gripe would be the new post sticker being to the left of the thread title. Far easier to tap on it when it's to the right of the title but maybe that's not something that can be moved easily.
I hadn't noticed the horrible turdy-brown colour of stickied threads. Changed it to a darker colour.
Reply box has also been adjusted to match the dark theme.
I'm going to look into dialing down the amount of blue over the place as it's unnecessary and looks like it's trying to highlight things of no importance.
I'm not sure what you mean by the "new post sticker". If you can post a screenshot I'll look into moving things around.
Nice one man :)
One other thing missing from before is having the return path links at the bottom as well as at the top of pages within a thread, this yoke:
QuoteMetal Warfare - Irish Metal Forum ► Metal Discussion ► Metal Discussion ► Now Playing
Apologies for the huge image, I just put in the link from Imgur! Anyway, see the "new" to the left of the thread titles? On mobile before it used to be to the right of the thread title, just made it easier to tap to the newest post with one hand on mobile, not a big deal if it can't be changed.

Done! You should see it at the bottom of each thread now.

Done! The "new" button is now on the right of the thread title on the thread list page. Also added a max-width to images so large images are resized to fit your screen.
It's really startin to come together lovely!
Cheers for fixing my login there Hambeast! Dunno why but it wouldn't send me a password reset email when I requested it.
There was an issue with the mail server so the majority of people wouldn't have been receiving any emails which were being sent out (registration confirmation, password resets, PM notifications, etc). It wasn't related to your account in particular but I don't know when I'd have noticed if you hadn't made me aware so thanks for that!
The email issue has been fixed. Apologies to everyone for any missed emails! If anyone is having any problems with password resets or can't log in, fire an email to admin (at) metalwarfare (dot) com and I'll look into it.
Minor thing that I doubt makes any difference but on the Unread Posts screen, the 'new' button is still on the left. Doesn't bother me but just pointing it out.

Actually, one thing I have noticed, when you refresh that page, all unread topics disappear, whether you've clicked on them or not. Before, it would just clear the ones you have read, and leave the unopened ones - which was handy when there was a good few unread topics.

It hadn't been updated on the "Unread Posts" or "Unread replies" pages. Fixed now. Thanks!

I've tried reproducing this myself but I'm not seeing it. I can refresh the page multiple times and it'll still show all the threads I haven't read. Is this a recurring issue? You wouldn't have accidentally hit the "mark all as read" button?
I've also updated the buttons at the top of the page in your screenshot. They were being trimmed off on mobile devices (hence the empty blue button). Let me know if they're too big on mobile devices or if they look silly.
I haven't tried it since the first time I noticed it TBH.
What I usually do is click on a topic, read the new posts then go back to the Recent Unread Topics page, when I've caught up on a few I refresh the page (drag down on an android phone, using Chrome). Before, I'd be left with the ones I hadn't clicked, but since the update, when I did the drag down, the page was cleared. The unread topics still had the New button alongside and brought me to the unread posts when I went into the subforums, but like I said, I just did that the once, if it happens again I'll let you know.
Edit: Just came out of this topic, back to the Recent Unread Topics page. Dragged doen and there was a new unread topic there. Might have been a one-off.
Sounds like it was a one time thing. Maybe caused by the update.
Threads should remain in the list until you've opened them. Refreshing shouldn't remove them from the list. Keep an eye on it and we'll see if it needs looked into.
Latest icon colour changes and avatar size changes all looking great man. Fair play to you! :abbath:

Yeah, just tried it there and it worked as normal. Sound.
I'm going to be doing some work on the site today and tomorrow so there will be some downtime expected.
Updates complete. Let me know if there's any problems!
New colour scheme looking good!
Yeah, new blue is way better, nice one.
Yeah good choice, blue text stands out clearly.
It looks the same to me. What's changed?
A slight adjustment of the shade of blue used to help with visibility. It's a tad brighter now. Some people reported it was hard to read when the brightness on your phone screen was low, or if you were in the sun. Old blue is on the left, new on the right, with an example of how it looks with low brightness.
Ah OK. I didn't notice but when you compare them side by side it's quite different alright.
The forum will be going down for maintenance later today around 12pm. Could take an hour or two.
Cool man, keep up the good work :abbath:
Updates complete. It went suspiciously smoothly. Let me know of any bugs.
Getting this when I try to log on with the DuckduckGo browser, seems to be working grand through Chrome thoughScreenshot_20251003_110540_DuckDuckGo.jpg
I can reproduce this on my end but I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm unaware of any issues with the certificate and the DDG browser gives no details on why it thinks the certificate is invalid. I've opened a support ticket with DDG to get more info.
You generally wouldn't want to, but in this case you'll be fine clicking "Accept Risk and Visit Site" since the site does have a valid SSL certificate (ssllabs link below), otherwise you'll need to wait for DDG to respond to me.

Is anyone else seeing similar issues with their setup?
I was getting a cloudflare error which was preventing me from connecting. Not sure if it was impacting others or for how long. It should be fixed now. Apologies for any downtime.
Don't worry about it, thank you. It's a shame that you were working on it at 4am!!
Jayney mac, I thought I broke the internet with my Wildhearts comment. Phew!
