Title: Gigan (Technical Death)
Post by: Hambeast on May 08, 2019, 02:15:02 PM
I'm not sure if Gigan are a well known band, but I came across them for the first time today. Going by the album cover I was expecting some kind of proggy heavy metal or maybe thrash, but I was surprised when I clicked play and was greeted with a wall of blasts and technical guitars.

Musically, Gigan have the chaotic noise of Portal, the technicality of Origin, the brutality of Dying Fetus, some slightly melodic/proggy parts, and a whole bunch of other shit going on. They manage to balance it all fairly well without annoying me, which is pretty nice!

Worth a quick listen if you're into that kind of thing. I've only listened to this one album so far, but I'll be checking out the rest.

It's interesting alright, it's got all the stuff I'd usually enjoy but just not clicking with me, might need a few more listens

Hearing a bit of Gorguts, and some of the drumming reminds me of early Mastodon, but on speed

Fucking great album, Snatchgrabber was a big champion of it on ye olde forum.

"Electo-Stimulated Hallucinatory Response" is a banger, snappy title too.
