Title: Creative juices

So how do you get them flowing?

I like a few cyans on a night in with the guitar.  Maybe a few live YouTube gigs. :D

Generally write best when I have something in life to be pissed off about... or when there's a drummer laying down a beat

I'm in a bit of a creative headspace at the minute.  Lots of lyrics coming out and a couple of short stories too.  Been recording with Bacterium over the past few weeks which has certainly got the juices flowing.  I think it's a matter of getting started.  Once you get things moving and are excited by what is coming out,  it seems to feed off its own energy.  I go through lulls of doing fuck all but once I get into something I start seeing ideas pop up all around me.

I'd be the same, I just let the lulls happen, I don't try and force myself to write something. It's a waste of time since most of the forced stuff is chucked into the bin. I can't just put on some youtube songs / light some candles or do some yoga with the cat to spur things on.

The creative lull could last 2-3 months but usually it starts back up again down to the urge of wanting to pick up the guitar and play, then I'd be back into writing a few songs a week. It's mainly the acoustic guitar nowadays - just start playing randomly. If I stumble across something I like, I'll stick to that and try form another random riff onto it that I think fits. From there it grows.
