Pretty decent night in the Spailpin last Friday.

Missed most of Elder Druid.

Wolf Counsel were OK, I got bored though. Dead Witches were fairly enjoyable, some good tunes - by fuck were they loud enough! Teeth rattling.

Band of the night for me was Soothsayer. Pound-for-pound one of the best heavy bands in Ireland at the minute, they're tight and once the rhythm section locks in, it just gets better and better. Liam Hughes is a brilliant front man.  They played a few new tracks too which sounded deadly.

The Spalpin is a great little venue in Cork, hopefully it'll get the support and the bands to keep it a viable option. The sound in there is really good too - Cormac from Cosmonaut knows what he's doing and takes the time to get it right. I saw him walking around and balancing the room a few times with an iPad that connected wirelessly to the desk. Gone are the days of turning up to a venue and having the fella who'd be Djing afterwards running the PA.
