Their latest album, TRUCULENCE, released in October 2025, is a short, aggressive and raw grindcore attack, combining the band's characteristic intensity with a distinctly Brazilian underground perspective.
FACADA has been active since 2003, and has built a substantial discography of albums, splits and other releases throughout more than two decades in the underground.

"Truculence" by Facada
For the past twenty two years Brazilian Grindcore band Facada (or "Stab" in English) have been treading the boards with everyone from Napalm Death to Cannibal Corpse and even Testament at various festivals while churning out what they describe as music which is "Simple. Fast, heavy, raw, without experimentation, without frills, without sonic trips, without hype and without joy". Their discography comprises five full length albums, four splits (with Stheno, Agorhy, Baga, Arame and Rot) and three demos but their last recorded confession was three years ago. The wait is over. Co-produced by Vanessa Almeida and drummer Vicente Ferreira (Ankerkeria, Godtoth, Jack the Joker) , who later mixed and mastered "Truculence" was recorded at VTM and VOID Studios and is adorned by cover art from Everton Silva, who previously did their 2013 album "Nadir". Ferreira is of course joined by bassist vocalist Carlos James (Godtoth, Negative Summer) and guitarists Danyel Noir (Godtoth, ex-Monge, Ariel Void) and Ari Almeida ( ex-Diagnose, ex-Evil Spirit)...
Ominousv almost melancholic sounds rise from the grave for a few seconds before the eardrums become subjected to Armageddon as "Truculence" explodes like a Molotov cocktail. A bomb blast of frantic and furious drumming rampages through the skull accompanied by razor sharp riffs with an off kilter solo for good measure. James roars his way through the lyric sheet like a man possessed and you know almost immediately that the flames of passion and rage still burn within their souls despite years gone by. "Irreversible" has a little Hardcore Punk to it as does the sonic death punch that is "Longing Never Ends", designed for two step action in the mosh pit and the very definition of what Max Cavalera meant when he said "It feels good to be a punk loser!". While everything is performed with enough beats per minute to cause palpitations, anxiety and dehydration the band prove they can do atmosphere in Grindcore with the somber tones of "Bleeding Concrete". Who knew that was even possible in 52 seconds? Returning something more bludgeoning "Primitive Regression" feels like being trapped in a pretty hate machine that stabs you fifty seven times before leaving you bleeding out on the floor... and yet it has a haunting few seconds of ambient sounds to send a horror movie style chill down the spine...
Blink and you'll miss it because the buzzsaw riffs of "Maybe Never" are as frantic as they come, a few almost tribal drum patterns thrown in for good measure. James vocals are both visceral and guttural as he splits blood over these Crust Punk infused Death Metal tracks, the bands sound refined and redefined over decades in order that every song hits like a laser guided missile, destroying the target within seconds. There is a bit of Black 'n Roll swagger to "Will Deliver" before Ferreira decimates the weak, his full throttle kit work so immense that it gives the likes of Gene Hoglan a run for his money. It's like fire and brimstone as each bomb blast goes off, the shrapnel flying through the air before the violent turbulence of "I Said So" gets the chance to get going. Is it political? Is it socially aware? of course and none more so than "Lie, Deceive, Manipulate" during which James destroys his larynx with blood curdling screams because this one means so much more. You can hear the rage filled venom in his voice and that doesn't stop as the conjoined twins of "Dwyer" and "Close Your Eyes and Contemplate" smash the mirror and the clock in fear. Its mind blowing to think about how this hellishness was conceived but every single note has been written within the shadow of intent. The final track feels like an ode to Italian Death Metal stalwarts Fulci or their side project TV Crimes as it returns to the horror movie ambiance, sounding like it belongs to the soundtrack to "The Shining" by Stanley Kubrick. Perhaps Brazil is better known for its thrash, death, and black metal, but it's not known for many grindcore bands. However, there is one highly respected band in the genre that originated in Brazil: Rot. So, the culture is definitely there, and in the new grindcore scene, we have a band that's been around for quite a few years: Facada, exactly 22 years.
James (vocals/bass), the sole survivor of those early demos, has gone through several lineups, with original members coming and going, and has recorded six albums with this latest release, "Truculence," in addition to the obligatory splits for a band that fuses the most unheard-of brutality of Grindcore and Death Metal. This latest recording marks the debut of Vicente Ferreira on drums, who also produced this sixth album.
" Truculence" is an album that flies by; its 12 tracks, packed into just 15 minutes, deliver a sonic onslaught that leaves every bone in your body shattered. A sonic onslaught that sounds exhilarating, it's an auditory madness from the very beginning, leaving you disoriented and unsure of your surroundings. A sonic demolition in torrents, where the minute-long tracks leave you 100% knocked out. These guys know exactly what unadulterated Grindcore is all about; short, direct tracks that go straight for the jugular. There's only one song that lasts four minutes, a track that would be the album's average, but let's take it one step at a time, because it's worth delving into Facada and this album, "Truculence," for those who aren't yet familiar with them...
From the very first track, the title track 'Truculence,' it's a veritable nuclear bomb of corrosion unleashed upon the world. Devastating and screeching Grindcore, with James as terrified as he is demented, where he doesn't scream with classic guttural vocals, but rather drenches us with a chaotic and sickening array of notes. Tracks like 'Irreversible' demonstrate that he doesn't play orthodox death metal with his grindcore, but rather it's more of a mutant corrosion of the dead, reminiscent of the deathgrind of bands like Napalm Death, especially from their "Utopia Banished" era.
The new drummer clearly possesses considerable technical skill, not only expertly controlling the blast beats but also conjuring up surprising rhythms, and he doesn't shy away from mid-tempo grooves either. A true machine, as you can hear in 'Saudade Não Acaba' , for example. 'Sangrando Concreto' is the most punk-influenced track, of course wrapped in a blanket of authentic Grindcore.
It's impressive how brutally they all express themselves simultaneously, and while the sound could have been muddy, it's anything but; every instrument is perfectly audible, and they even create great atmospheres, as in the case of 'Regressão Primitiva'. 'Talvez Nunca' can transform thrashy riffs into the most abysmal Grindcore. Or the Rock & Roll of 'Vai Entregar' into the most apocalyptic sound. These guys are incredible!
'Bem Que Eu Disse'This would be the Crust track of the album, with melodies that incite you to headbang. 'Mente, Engana, Manipula' is another shot straight to the temple, where we have a foray into darker sounds. The most anticipated 4 minutes arrive with 'Dwyer+Feche os Olhos e Concemple'. Don't expect pretty, well-played Death Metal with its perfect, danceable melodies. Not at all, this is Grindcore. From the beginning, they deliver a beating as only they know how, and when you expect everything to shift to majestic Death Metal, surprise! The Brazilians unleash the synths and subject us to a psychological cruelty that leaves us in a straitjacket, and if they're so pleased with themselves...
Grindcore with an explosive, insane sound that has left us exhausted. What a way to pound the instruments with such subtlety, drawing out the energy and rage of the most corrosive style of Extreme Metal. After listening to such savagery we needed to take Diazepam.
