Been getting into prog rock a good bit over the past 2 years. Much to do with youtube channels like Sea of Tranquility and Prog Report where Mike Portnoy features often. As well as Opeths last few records opening my ears.
Bought Clise to the Edge by Yes and it's amazing. Currently checking out Kansas Genesis and Early Chicago , who might be more fusion but definite Prog tendencies.

I wouldn't be a big prog fan at all but that Dancing with the Moonlit Knight song by Genesis is unbelievable.
That whole selling england by the pound album by genesis is great.

Favourites atm are red by king crimson and the first 4 or 5 van der graaf generator albums. Still life is a good start point for VdGG. 90% sure thats where opeth got that title.

Emerson Lake and Palmer might be worth checking out. Tarkus or Brain Salad Surgery are not a bad palace to start, but any of the early 70s stuff is good.
The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Genesis is a lifelong favourite album of mine. Grew up with an uncle who loved Genesis so was exposed to them, the Gabriel era in particular at a very early age, and I'd say not just my interest in music, but even in the aesthetics that come with sleeve art, lyrics, etc all comes from that record. Love that band, and the various solo projects (Steve Hackett's Voyage of the Acolyte and the early Gabriel solo albums especially)
King Crimson and Van Der Graaf Generator I've definitely developed a bit of a gra for over the last decade or so as well, still very much a casual fan.
Dont have much time for the likes of Yes or ELP to be honest.
Are Henry Cow classed as prog? Quite like them. Ditto Soft Machine.
in terms of 80s, I guess Art Zoyd and Univers Zero are the ones for me. Art Zoyd's "Le Mariage Du Ciel Et De L'Enfer" is an amazing album

Actually just remembered Camel , gave their record that looks like the cigarette pack. Thanks for the recommendations, also i always liked Marillion as a kid and never even knew they were considered a prog band. Have Mispaced Childhood and Clutching at Straws on a playleist for years.
Agree with pretty much everything above. There's also The Alan Parsons Project, kinda prog mixed with AOR and I'm totally hooked on 'em. Check out I, Robot and Eye in the Sky to start.
