Title: Recommend a gig for friend’s 40th please!
Post by: Shredzilla on June 27, 2026, 05:32:10 PM
Hey folks. I went to Gojira with a friend of mine in the National Stadium in 2023 and we've been chasing that high ever since. His 40th is coming up so I want to take him to a show. (could be small or large, as long as it's quality. The more affordable the better though) We're not massively into metal so I'm a bit out of the loop. I'm looking for something obnoxiously groovy if possible. Or just ridiculously heavy for the craic

Our metal fix:
Mick Gordon's Doom
The first track on Ghost Reveries
Imperium - Machine Head
Pantera
Gojira
Strapping Young La
Tool
Korn (We also have a soft spot for nu-metal, we're a product of our time)
Old Symphony X (I'm partial to a bit of cheese myself. The smellier, the better! )

Dislikes:
Anything Emo/core/crab (if those are even things anymore)

Many thanks in advance!

I saw that. A bit too expensive unfortunately.. Was also looking at Opeth.

The gig doesn't have to be right away but I'd like to give him the tickets in the next week.

Looking through this forum Cryptopsy might be a good shout?

There's Papa Roach in the 3 Arena at the end of the year, but could be a bit pricey? Or Fear Factory in October for something on the cheaper end
