Title: New Sub Genre Of Black Metal - Looking For Recommendations Of Similar Bands
Post by: Metallurgy on June 23, 2026, 11:15:30 AM
I have recently gotten really into Baase (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lrVdG-ePe0), Trha (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOBMRDpVAWQ&list=RDEMHqkBR0FbgjJncgZdGFfUrQ&start_radio=1), and
Olatom Amespïrïa (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0RMjIHrzEI)

I really like the style of hardcore infused raw black metal these bands seem to be creating. There are also occasional doom influences (especially with Baase) and progressive ideas (especially with Trha). Are there any other bands making music along this lines? I can't put my finger on what it is I like so much but it's high energy black metal with an experimental ethos I seem to love

Thanks for sharing. I have never heard of BAASE but that track is cool, nice and filthy.

Can't comment on the first one as it sounds too modern for me but the second one almost definitely sounds like a classic French bm band from the 00's. Early-mid Nuit Noire first comes to mind - very similar but perhaps more upbeat, check out releases around Lutina. Super early Alcest around Le Secret would fit. Early Mortifera and Celestia. Perhaps even early Peste Noire around Folkfuck if you want to explore that.

Canada also had a similar trend going on - I think Akitsa used to play in the same style, maybe even now.

Eventually you may want to check out Ildjarn too if you haven't yet.

Yes. Great track. Their other work is worth checking out too. They've released a lot of music starting in 2026

I have just listened to Akitsa on your recommendation. Yes - you got the brief. This is great stuff. Exactly what I was looking for. Those far off screams are perfect. Ildjarn (maybe a bit more second wave sounding?) didn't grab in in quite the same way but I will have another go
