I haven't seen any word on support. "Solo tour" makes it seem like it might just be him?

Nearly €60 with fees seems crazy to me for a solo show. Last time I saw him with a band was €36 not that many years back.
Saw him solo acoustic 10+ years ago in some random pub in Bournemouth, class night.
Decided on a whim to get a ticket for this today... Don't know a huge amount about him ,or SYL for that matter, but should be a bit of craic
I'm tempted to head to this. I'm on a buzz for gigs after going to 3 in a week and my gut is saying this will be good

Do man. Gigs are an absolute gift!
I've been attending for almost 40 years now, and still loving it...

What's the setup for this? I heard there's no band and it's only Devin with backing tracks?
That makes sense given it's in The Ambassador.
Was chatting to a fella there a minute ago who has a ticket and seems to think there'll be some sort of orchestral backing to some or all of this. Dunno where he read that though
Have a ticket for sale - PM if interested.
Any word on the times for the Belfast show?
DME posted its 19.30 he'll be on stage tonight in Dublin, would it be the same for the Limelight?
Ticket for tonights gig in Classifieds; reduced to €30.

This still going?
Yes it is
Just throwing up here that I didn't buy any of the tickets the boys are selling because I needed two together.
In case the thread makes it look like they got sold and somebody else got put off thinking they were gone
Yep, still available.
The first part of that was excellent - haven't laughed that hard in a long time.....
The second part dragged on way too long though....
First time in the Ambassador - the girls working there said they are open to having metal gigs there again... Kept thinking what it must have been like seeing Slayer there back in the day!!!!!

Saw Slayer there with Mastodon supporting, still have the ticket stub signed by Brent. Saw Megadeth there too but can't remember who was supporting.
Megadeth was Diamond head one occasion and Priestess the other. Was at the Slayer and Megadeth gigs there but tonnes more Deftones, Def Leppard, Pitchsifter, Anthrax Tomahawk
Saw Fear Factory and Deftones there back in the 2000s. Why did they stop doing the metal gigs?
Was at a few shows in the Ambassador Downs first Irish gig in 06 and then again in 08, Hatebreed, Audioslave, Machine Head, Dirty Sanchez and Slayer. It was a great venue in the perfect location.

Was it not turned into some sort of theatre for exhibits and they stopped doing all types of gigs?
It's changed a lot over the years, it was a cinema when I lived in Dublin. Saw QOTSA there at one stage, brought a mate's younger brother to CKY another time.
Audioslave was point depot
Anthrax 03 was the only time I was ever in the place!
Just put up a ticket for the Belfast gig on ticketmaster

It was down to the noiseand the smoking area complaints from the hospital so standing gigs are a no go.
It's a shame as it was fucking outstanding for gigs.
It was meant to be converted into Dublin's Central library so everything in there for over ten years was "just this once while we wait for stuff to get started"but that never happened
I came away from this feeling a little disappointed and underwhelmed. The whole thing seemed hastily thrown together and unprepared. There was a lot of mistakes and trying to remember riffs which was funny at times but it stings to have paid £50 for what felt like a rehearsal, and that's without the £7 pints in Limelight. Playing the first 30 seconds of a song and then stopping and moving onto another song was annoying. I'd have preferred if one half was spoken word and the second half was a normal set instead of a mash of both.

Mein Gott :o
Unfortunately £7 isn't far off the average price you'll pay in Belfast these days.

The biggest rock bar in Stockholm, my favourite haunt, is 55kr (€5) for a pint bottle of Tuborg Gold, and it's only 37kr (€3.60)if you're in before 6pm, weekends included.
The only real rock bar here, Voodoo, charges around £6.50 a pint. There's still a few places you can find a sub-5 pint but they're increasingly rare. There's always Wetherspoons where you can get a £2.40 pint of ale if you don't mind the sticky carpets/tables/seats/glasses etc

Yeah, I noticed the price of pints being steep in Belfast for a good few years now, when I was up for gigs...
God bless the days of the €3.50 pints of Guinness or Smithwicks in The Snug on Stephen's Street Upper in Dublin...
I wonder how much they are in there now? It was '18 or '19 since I was last in there
Is that place behind/under Tara St. DART station still there? I can't remember the name of it, it was cheap in my day but a bit grim though.
Isaac Butts? Think it's long gone?
It wasn't that anyway, Mulligan's or Fitzpatrick's, something more obviously Oirish.
Ah it doesn't matter, I don't want to derail the thread.
Edit: O'Reilly's it was.

Totally agree. There's no way I'd buy a ticket for a show like this again. Playing snippets of songs (and playing them badly to make matters worse), is a complete waste of time in my eyes.

Went to the Ambassador show and these are my sentiments exactly. This was an intimate, buddy experience for superfans - not a gig in the traditional sense. To have enjoyed it fully, you would pretty much need to have followed his entire career from the beginning and been aware of his journey and personal battles in life. Being late to the Dev party, I had neither. Charging €67+ for that type of show is disgraceful in my view. But at least the €8.40 bubbly Guinness in a plastic cup cushioned the blow.
Finally getting to hear DT's voice live was great though. When he did occasionally get into a song it felt extremely powerful and I left content at the end of it having witnessed Lightworker, (some of) Deep Peace and me oul' Home At Night in full - absolutely class!
On a side note, walking around the vicinity of The Ambassador (O'Connell Upper and Parnell St.) for the first time in over 20 years was shocking. I'd heard the stories but its even worse than I could have imagined.
