This is rapidly coming up and I am looking forward to it - if more for the supports than the main band.

The last Abigail Williams album is very good. Not gone on everything before that - a bit of a mixed bag.

Is the main lad, and I had to look his name up, Ken Bergeron travelling to Ireland alone and playing with local Irish lads as his backing band?

I only ask this because, having lunch with a few people earlier, one lad said to me that a buddy of his was playing with a metal band in The Pav and showed me the poster for this gig. I assumed he meant Soothsayer or Body Drinkers but he said that he thinks the fella that he knows is playing (guitar....?) in the main band from America.

Seems plausible as it appears that the band is Bergeron's project. Thar being said, this lad isn't into metal and wouldn't be going to this gig so he might have it all wrong or I might have completely misunderstood.

Bryan O'Sullivan has played with Abigail Williams live on some tours and on studio recordings for a number of years.
And he's a local lad for sure.

This was mighty craic; great turn out on a Wednesday night. I haven't been in the Pav in years!, such a cool venue!.More gigs in there please!

AW are not my kind of thing recording wise, but that was class live, thank you.

Fantastic crowd for a Wednesday night or any night. Very varied crowd also again in there.

Sound was very different between upper and lower levels during Bodydrinkers, so stayed floor level after discovering the difference.

Bodydrinkers were class. Soothsayers have never been my thing but I really bought in to this performance, bravo! Liam at front of stage really added to the performance.

The Pav is such a class venue, we really need to ensure more happens here in the not too distant future, especially following on an u/g gig like Faetooth and Coltaine and now these boys.

Thanks so much to the people behind this gig  :abbath:

I must echo the above, thanks to those involved in putting it on.
Completely different love band compared to the studio output.

Bodydrinkers & Soothsayer were class

Abigail were good one second; then just rubbish.
They're just a bad knock-off of Wolves In The Throne Room.
They live out there now afaik - Olympia, Washington.
Probably gawking in their practice room

Their drummer is savage

Great to see a crowd on a Wednesday night. The venue needs to be used more for metal - the FOH sound has definitely improved under the ownership.

I agree both Bodydrinkers and Soothsayer were excellent.

Abigail Williams were fairly one-note and boring. I stayed for about 5 songs and then bailed out on them because it was going nowhere interesting.

Also, their sound was reed-thin compared to both supports. I couldn't see any amps - were they using DI units?

100% - the drummer is lethal.

The drummer was brilliant, was chatting to him after as well, very sound lad, seemed very happy to be over here playing.

They were indeed running fully direct which I'm usually suspicious of (it's fucking lame, amps are cool) but funny enough I thought it actually sounded great down the front, didn't feel it was lacking in that department, which surprised me.

Soothsayer and Bodydrinkers both top notch I thought, as good as I've seen them. Soothsayer sounded very sharp, a little less psychedelic than before but definitely no less interesting.

I was stood on the raised area just above where you were standing so I was off to one side of the stage which could have impacted things. I just felt that they heft wasn't there compared to the supports.
