It gets a slow bump now
The live EP launches on streaming today - if you haven't given it a go yet, you'll find it on Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/album/5wzt3Mf9ueR7tJ9CrwPNZY), Apple Music (https://itunes.apple.com/ie/album/live-in-limerick-ep/1452163361), and Youtube (https://youtu.be/vSRHNQ704r8). Still up on Bandcamp for streaming & download too.
Thanks again for checking it out.
After a year of writing, we will soon release of our new album, Unspeakable.
The second full length by Third Island, Unspeakable is themed around a selection of short stories by H.P. Lovecraft, with each song lyrically following a different story. Musically more organic than previous releases - being written and recorded with a live focus - it uses the doomy post-metal of earlier material as a template and explores more stripped back and melodic passages on top, taking a more refined approach to the style without compensating their usual oppressive heft.
Available on CD and Download 29th November 2019. Preview tracks and launch show details coming soon.
Cheers for your support. Links to old material while ye wait are in the top post.

Nice artwork. It looks similar in style to the last Chaos Echoes.

Cheers, just looked up that, it's in the same vein alright! Had a few nice abstract pieces chosen for it that will make it into the inner sleeve too.
Looking forward to hearing this for sure. Lots of potential on the previous stuff and the live ep was my favourite to date.

Ah thanks! It's definitely more live feeling than before, and there's a good chunk of clean passages in it - thanks to writing with a drummer now it's easier to try jam out dynamics than plan them in, if that makes sense. Should have a song up in a little while anyway.
Right in time for our album launch next week, you can now hear one of our new songs, "Ward", at the links below. Cheers for listening!

Cheers for checking it out!
Been a while since I posted here but sure, if anyone is looking, we reduced all our CDs/Downloads/Tees/Bundles and made older releases free downloads on bandcamp, for the day that's in it. You can check them out here: https://thirdisland.bandcamp.com/
New music otherwise in process, slated for next year at the current rate. Cheers for listening.
Small bump with updates:
Unfortunately, our guitarist/vocalist Liam left the band in early 2020, amicably, and is now releasing music as StillColdAir - give it a lash if you're a fan of the lighter end of our work, or post-rock/shoegaze in general.
The remainder of us decided rather than look for someone else, we'd reorganise it as a three-piece. We are currently writing new material but delayed thanks to 2020, so in the meantime we wanted to release five of our old songs, live off the floor in our Jamspace, self recorded with the new formation back in June last year. We release this tomorrow as "LIVE II" for free/pay as you like on Bandcamp. Digital release only. Art and notes below:

Pity about that John. Keep on truckin' anyway.

Cheers. Ah yeah we're still plugging away, have an absolute rake of stuff demo'd out as three of us but just need to get the time now to do it properly! Different dynamic so it changed up how we write a fair bit.
Hopefully leads to interesting stuff, which I'm sure it will.
LIVE II is now up on Bandcamp:

For the day that's in it, all our CDs and Shirts are reduced to clear and available in bundles. Give them a nosey here if you're into that sort of thing:

Let me know what ye think of it. Cheers for your support.
Have this on here just coming to the end of it now and I think these versions come off better than the original ones with the extra heft. Way sludgier but in a good way. It's not the other fella being gone either, it's the extra dirt just suits it

Sound for giving it a spin, glad you enjoyed it. I obviously enjoy the originals of these but do like playing them stripped back like this, and we picked songs where we found we could use the dynamics a bit more to work around the member less - so ones that don't sound like they're missing something when it gets heavy, and ones where we can play with the space more in the quiet sections. What we're gearing up to write will be more in the vein of these few too.
I haven't had much to post in here for a while but it's three years since our last album, Unspeakable, so the digital is up for free / NYP on Bandcamp for the foreseeable future to mark it, knock yourselves out:

We've new stuff written and now recording for release next year too.
This is great.

Cheers! We'll have new stuff next year and are a three piece now, the more recent Live EP on Bandcamp would give you a better idea of what we're up to nowadays.
Really cool tracks.
Both vocal lines are very well executed, solid riffs and little to no fannying about.
The choon 'Dunwich' is outstanding.
A minor thing, and it's just an opinion, is a bit more oomph from the bass in certain areas would give it another dimension.

Cheers, glad you enjoyed it! I liked the two vocal approach too but since the other lad left we're down to one guitar/one vox (me, roaring). Which helps with the bass anyway, now its wellied up in the mix to compensate - agree with you on it though, I like bass to be prominent and punchy and got it a bit more like that for the new stuff.

I know what happened there but we shouldn't speak ill of the dead I suppose.
A little bump, we will have some new music this week so I am digging out the thread in the meantime.
Nice one. Been a fan since the first EP, don't own a copy of The last album. I must rectify that

Great stuff. Found you guys during lockdown and got all your albums. Remember at the time(in the depths of pandemic) the song "locked away" of omelas hit me like a ton of bricks.
Could also have been the copious amount of alcohol I was drinking at the time ???

Cool artwork! I'll have a listen later on
Cool song, man. Nice filthy tones, and hefty production. The music is atmospheric in a kind of Neurosisy way but the noise rock buzz is all over it too. The gruff vocals are really good.
It prompted me to drag Dusk off the shelf for a revisit.
Oh, the video is cool too and the artwork reminds me a bit of Tim Grieco's more abstract stuff. I dig.
Cheers lads!

Big auld Neurosis fans alright so there's no escaping that, not that I mind at all lol. We had been sitting on these a while so by the time we got to record them I was listening to a load of noise rock too and tried to let the guitar have that sort of feel to it, as well as the bass mix, glad it came through. Using the Aluminium guitar probably helps  Glad you enjoyed it.
Yeah man, it comes through alright. The clangy bass and harmonics bring that style to my mind, not that I'm massively versed in it. I think there's more of an undercurrent of Neurosis than it sounding particularly like them. A similar tension there perhaps? And the vocals are great. Probably because of the specific buzz I'm on lately but it has that feel of proto- black metal/ early apocalyptic crust punk that I hear in Bretwaldas. Venom, Amebix, Motorhead, Celtic Frost... gruff rather than growly and very fitting.

Always thought there was a bit of Scott Kelly off you. Not the music, just the abuse
Nice track too BTW its grand with the extra bit of heft too!
Fired Dusk on in the car earlier. Cracking EP. Less apocalyptic than the new stuff, more beautiful and Jesu-like. Very enjoyable.
Hardcopies at some stage?
Preordered the EP/shirt and Unspeakable which I didn't have. Gotta catch ye live again as I've only seen ye once before at the siege.

That was written entirely with meself and the old guitarist Liam and would be more in line with his style. As the rest of the lads joined in it started to change up a good bit since we all always wrote together rather than bringing riffs or songs in. I enjoy it meself though, it is pretty funny going back to sites and blogs that reviewed it at the time explaining that we are barely doom anymore

 fuck off
I was listening to a bit of the other fellas stuff not too long ago actually. Liam o Connor is his name and it was exactly like his bits of Third Island. Anyone who likes that bit of it would do worse than looking him up.
But he's gone now, we don't speak of him any more.
Think I'll have to crack on Dusk this evening ta fuck I haven't listened to it in an age

 he's the grandest sure I still chat to him the whole time. Yeah his own stuff is Coldways and StillColdAir online if ye look it up, it all has a very similar buzz to Dusk when it is heavy, if ye like that. Good mix of styles across his albums.
Yeah to be fair to him he's sound as a pound.
But we don't speak of him any more. He's like the child from Omelas

Sweet. I'll give it a lash later.
Fuck it, I just ordered a CD. Sounds really good but I'm only listening on my phone. I'm sure it'll sound mighty through real speakers.

Cheers! In a little parallel to the Malthusian thread there where you mentioned being poisoned doing the vocals - I was in absolute rag order recording Bury the Sun  what was fuckin worse was I was on my own doing them. I knew I was going out late afterwards so brough a feed of cans in with me to record, great idea.
No mercy 8)
Just lashed this on. Great tack. Had heard the rough versions back a while ago but was staying away from it until it was finished and released and I have to say it's better than I remembered. Nearly unrecognisable from Dusk as the same band. Just an observation btw, I think Dusk is great.
I assume ye will be playing a gig or two on the back of this?
Got the ep and tee-shirt delivered there on Friday via bandcamp, many thanks. On repeat all weekend, loving it. The best way imo to describe is sounds more mature with a great grove to it if that makes sense. As above would be great to see a couple of gigs out of this fingers crossed 🤞.
Cheers lads, glad ye're enjoying it! Thanks to the few of ye who grabbed a copy too, I just got Friday's few out in the post today.
Re. Gigs - yes definitely eventually again, likely start of next year at this rate mind as at least one of us has travel/work/life to contend with each week into the next few months.
