Diagnosed with ALS (https://blabbermouth.net/news/former-manowar-guitarist-ross-the-boss-friedman-diagnosed-with-als)
Awful disease for anyone, but I imagine particularly hard for a musician
Been going back over some of his stuff and those 80s Manowar albums still sound fantastic. Solo stuff isn't too bad either, especially the ones with Marc Lopes on vocals
Aw no....
See him when he played The Voodoo Lounge in April 2017. Only €20 a ticket too. That was a great evening's craic, and the singer he had had some set of pipes..
Very sad news. Was at that gig too, just amazing to hear the great early Manowar stuff played up close with some heart.
Might be mistaken, but was he a nonce?
No, the mid-90's replacement was/is
YEah just read that, oof. My mistake
That was the other guitarist - the one who looks like Shaggy from Scooby Doo.
Sad news. One of my favourite guitarists. The solos on Gloves of Metal and Battle Hymn are hard to beat.

Guyana has one of my favorite solos by him. Manowar kinda turned to shit when he left.

Would have sworn that gig was around 2011, not '17. Great night alright, I've seen Manowar a few times now but they were the best renditions of those songs I've seen live
The gig was 2011 at the academy. Ciaran Treacy interviewed Joey for Metalireland. He got pissy and called a halt to the interview when Ciaran was asking about the high ticket price.
Ross the Boss did a Manowar set in 2017, with Marc Lopes, Mike LePond and Rhino. Joeywar did the 2011 gig with the paedo.
Yeah Ross did the 2017 gig in The Voodoo Lounge. As I said in the second post of the thread, it was only €20 entrance. Very good value for such a brilliant show.
Ah yes stand corrected.
Poor guy
