Perfect chance for anyone who missed the final Irish shows
I missed Biohazard in the Academy the last time; but im not sure do I want to see them in a big arena again.(The last time i saw Biohazard was in the old point in 2001, if I go to this it will be a 25 year gap between seeing them, which sounds fucking mental now😅)
I'll tag along to this missed the last Sepultura show - but lol at these "Final European Run" "Last Chance to See" "Last Dublin Date" ;D
Missed the last one, that's a cracking lineup though so will definitely head to this one
What will it pull? Hardly the full arena?

Considering how quick the Olympia show went, I'd say it'd do well. Plus that Malevolence crowd (as crap at they are), are a bit of a draw for the younger crowd.

It'll be the small setup with the curtains down I'm sure.
I guess it'll probably still sell well enough but not sure if many people will be travelling for 'final European performance', anyone in Europe who wanted to see them on this farewell tour has had a chance.
I thought the last show was the last one here.... ah sure what would I know
Don't think the band know  Might get another one yet! Final show in Letterkenny!
QuoteConsidering how quick the Olympia show went, I'd say it'd do well.
Last one went quick alright but big jump from 1,600 to 12,000. I'm sure it'll do ok but imagine some of the seats will be sectioned off alright.
Ah it's a one-off event, rather than part of another tour, makes more sense now. Lots of Brazilians in Europe who would make a trip out of it, you'd think.
QuoteSEPULTURA comments: "Dublin! We couldn't think of a better place to play our final ever European show than your beautiful city and to be joined by our friends in BIOHAZARD, MALEVOLENCE, SACRED REICH and CRYPTA will make this an event not to be missed. See you next August!"
Hopefully Max and Igor rock up here at some point with the Chaos A.D tour they did in the States.
No thanks - Max in rag order. Seeing soulfly live one of the worst things I've ever witnessed
Saw Cavelera Conspiracy at Nova Rock once upon a time. The sight of Max air-guitaring along to a riff while actually wearing a guitar is something I don't think I'll ever forget for some reason. Awful stuff.
Is there a reason Dublin is the final show? Is there some connection? Surely a city like London would seem like a more obvious choice?
Sepultura and Biohazard both playing bloodstock that weekend. Usually Bloodstock ensure their headliners are exclusively playing that as a uk show. Playing Dublin could be lucrative enough whilst over this way.

The Bestial / Morbid Visions shows last year were great and seemed like everyone enjoyed them.
Maybe because the last Sepultura show here did so well they decided to finish here. Nobody knew they were going to sell out the Olympia in a few days. I have never been a big fan of the Derrick Sepultura but the show this time last year was brilliant will definitely head to this. I never understood why people would give out about a band they like playing in Ireland as we are starved for gigs here as it is and this line-up is great. I just hope it doesn't sell out and end up like Pantera full of pricks / place being stuffed so you have to stand right at the back of the crowd.
Ministry also played at the time what was suppose to be their final ever shows in the Tripod in Dublin back in 2008.
Saw Biohazard again 3 weeks ago and they were even better than in Dublin new stuff sounds great live.
We are not starved for gigs. Anyone remember the 90s here?
There's stuff on practically every week
Compare here to any other European capital city or big North American city for gigs. You will see a massive difference.
I dunno about this, saw them in the Olympia last year great gig but thought they were done here.

Got a standing ticket in the presale for €87, not bad value as I'm getting Biohazard and Sacred Reich in too. I doubt it will top the Olympia gig but nice to see them one last time before the inevitable classic lineup reunion
Bloodbath replace Malevolence. :abbath:
In no rush to get a ticket but I think I'll end up going to this, bill is just stacked with classic bands and I'm sure the Sepultura show will be great.

Great upgrade. Still haven't got a ticket but hopefully one of the gang is driving up and the back to school bills don't fleece me.
Tell me about Bloodbath , wasnt this Mikel Amerfelds band is he still in it.
He's long gone.
Nick Holmes sings with them now.

I was long done with them before the last show here. Got a ticket close to the show for old times sake with it supposedly being the last ever time they were suppose to play here and I was that blown away ended up heading to the Belfast show the following day. This gig is going to be great.
I was suppose to see Bloodbath in 2020 the Opeth guy had already been long gone by then. Nice replacement much better than what was originally on the bill.
How long would Sacred Reich's set be for this?
40 mins?
Hard to tell, wouldn't be surprised if it were 30?
Ta
Er, I got a ticket anyway
Starting with Inner Self. Nice.

I've seen Sepultura twice since they called it quits
Got tickets. The lineup is decent. Haven't seen any of them bar Sepultura. Should be a good one
Set times?
Well, here we are. Should be a bit of craic. I'm sure there'll be a collab or two on stage.
Sepultura doing a Signing/Merch sale in the Sound House on the day if anyone into it.
Still curious to see the numbers - loads of tickets still available
I'm looking forward to it. I've more interest in Sacred Reich and Crypta than Bloodbath and Biohazard but it should be good craic.
Yeah something for everyone I think. Might even enjoy getting gouged for an overpriced t shirt
Doors: 16:00
Crypta: 17:00
Sacred Reich: 17:50
Bloodbath: 18:50
Biohazard: 19:55
Sepultura: 21:00
Went along to the signing, fair play to them for doing that.
Bitta soakage now and start with Crypta then.
Bloodbath just finished - don't think I've ever seen so few in the 3 Arena 2.5k-3k but I'd say even my estimate is generous
The amount of horrible ai used was fucking shocking. The gemini watermark was left on one of them.
I didn't really mind it, except for one of the songs when it seemed rather poor.
They're not going to have a budget to hire CGI artists for a tour. Either we get something that looks like it was made on yer ma's 90s PC, no graphics at all, or AI.
They claim this tour is their last, but I have to wonder if a reunion with Igor and Max is on the cards in a few years.

They could have just had their logo like the rest of the bands did, it looked shit.
Were Biohazard any good?
Yeah the background AI was awful and really distracting. Added nothing- a complete negative to the show. They'd have been better off just alternating between a logo, the band, the crowd. Turnstile had a camera above the pit which they played on the screen- that was cool. More bands should do it.
Enjoyed the night though. By the time I got there most of the merch was gone - looks like it was very expensive - at least what was left anyway.
Crypta - excellent
Sacred Reich - good but not great
Bloodbath - promising start but got dull as fuck
Biohazard - wished Bloodbath would come back. It was like Simon fucking Says, Brooklyn style, yo! Counted 8 "respects" too. Not my thing at all but a lot of the crowd liked it.
Sepultura - very good but not the best I've seen them. Liked that they put three new tunes in the set, great set overall. Was easy enough to tune out the AI stuff, didn't bother me. Filled up nicely for them, too. Enjoyable night overall but the late night fucken drive back to South Tipp is a cunt.
I had wanted to see Crypta and Sacred Reich, but missed everyone except Sepultura.
Funnily enough, as I was wondering why they never hired a second guitarist to boost their live sound after Max left, while also lamenting missing Crypta, their guitarist joined Sepultura on stage for a song. For a moment, I hoped she would stay for the final however many songs.
I thought Sepultura sounded better than when they played the Belfast Telegraph building on their final ever (just joking!) tour.
Edit: Just finding out that Luana Dametto wasn't on drums this tour (temporary for some reason) and they're onto their third lead guitarist. Don't mind that I missed them as much now.
Great night overall, serious bang for buck.
Sacred Reich were great I thought - always was a fan. I even think Awakening is a great record, they were tight and at 40 mins a nice run through the hits.
Jesus Bloodbath really killed the buzz, might work well in a small club but they were lost on the big stage and Nick Holmes as much as I love Paradise Lost is one of metals worst frontmen.
Biohazard got the party started again, just great fun live - great energy.
I thought Sepultura were great, the AI was a little bit shitty but the set was great and they were really tight, I thought the material aired from the EP was really strong too. I actually think a reunion with the two lads wouldn't be as good as that, Max has lost many steps over the years.
It filled out a bit in the end from the time Biohazard hit the stage, and one other perk of the low turnout was the easy access to pints, merch, toilets.
Great to see such a turnout for a lineup like this. One would wonder where the fuck all of these people are when it's not a bands last show. Having seen Sepultura in the TBMC,Tivoli and Academy over the years to much smaller crowds, it's difficult to know how they can then manage to pull a pretty decent showing in the 3 Arena.
Crypta were very good. Not familiar with them but they gave it socks.
Sacred Reich were very good. A shorter set gave Phil no time for his usual yawn inducing speeches. Their new drummer is the business too. Sound for SR was probably the best of any of the bands.
Bloodbath aren't a band I have any albums of and that won't change after last night. Despite it being great to see Nick Holmes make an effort for once, Bloodbath just aren't very good and have no songs. It was all just a wall of boring noise.
Boyohazard brought the RESPECT! They need not have bothered though as I had none to give them in return. Evan remains one of the most annoying metal celebs in existence. I did laugh at Bobby Hambels one signature spin-hop move that he did for the entire set. Had no idea the other fella had morphed into Billy Idol. It is a mystery how these cunts ever got big.
Sepultura were excellent. Their set had pretty poor sound for the headline act and it didn't improve as the night went on either. Great career spanning set though and all played well. Highlights were Desperate Cry, Dead Embryonic Cells and Means To An End.
Greyson doesn't have the same primal attack on the drums as either Igor or Eloy and doesn't utilise his toms in a way I'm used to hearing but he's an excellent drummer.
Overall an entertaining evening. It broke a 3 1/2 year break from going to gigs for me and it was great to see the Brazilian men off into the sunset. I've seen Sepultura live more than any other band and they have never disappointed. I hope they enjoy their retirement.
In a country were metal is arguably the most unpopular genre of music that was a great turnout for Sepultura in the 3 Arena. I was at the signing and many there seemed to have travelled from mainland Europe for the show. The signing was a great last minute surprise, the lads were very friendly and genuinely seemed happy to be there.
I have no interest whatsoever in Cryptia so that was an easy skip. Had planned to see Sacred Reich but pints got in the way. Got in as Bloodbath were starting they were ok but it's just more mainstream Swedish DM that I don't need and will never buy.
Biohazard were great I would have preferred if the set was longer as it took them a song or two to get going.
Sepultura were band of the night for me. It was great to hear two of my favourite songs from the Green era Against and Choke. The AI stuff didn't bother me at all I was just watching the band. I brought a mate along who wouldn't know Sepultura at all and he said it was one the best gigs he has ever been to.
Shame it's the last show as the previous Olympia gig got me right back into a band I had written off years ago. Now we won't at least see this version of them ever again. I don't know how this show came about if it was just luck the way the tour routing went or if Dublin was purposely chosen as the last show either way it's great that we got this gig and fair play to everyone that had a hand in making it happen.
Quotegreat to see Nick Holmes make an effort for once
When did this happen - he was practically comatose
Didn't get to make it in the end myself. A bit surprised to hear that Bloodbath were shite live though. I'm not familiar with the later stuff when Holmes joined but the Akerfeldt era was solid and the Nightmares Made Flesh album with Peter Tagtren on vocals is savage.
I saw Bloodbath a few times with Akerfeldt and they were great. Saw them once with Holmes a few years ago and left halfway through it was so dull, sounds like it wasn't just a one off bad gig
I didn't bother going to this as i am not a fan of the Green era. It has nothing to do with him replacing Max, i am just not a fan of his vocals. If Igor and Max do get back with the rest of the lads at some point, I'd go to see it. Although from reading some interviews it appears Andreas and Max seem to really dislike each other, but a wad of cash thrown at them might help them overcome to their differences

People have been saying that for over 20 years, but Andreas seems to be trying to bow out with some credibility intact. He has been very clear the Cavaleras are invited to participate in the final gig later this year in Brazil.
It was cool to see them all sidestage watching Sacred Reich's set. There's an authenticity to the guy which you don't quite feel from Max. I'd be genuinely surprised were a cash-grab to follow.

Spot on.
And have a look at the clip I posted above, he's cooked.
Crypta were excellent and seemed to really enjoy themselves.
Sacred Reich genuinely rocked the place.
I desperately wanted to like Bloodbath (and I am partial to that flavour of Death metal), but they were boring to be honest. It felt like they were at a different gig.
Urban Discipline and State of the World Address were on heavy rotation on my tape deck in the 90s. I thoroughly enjoyed Biohazard and would go see again.
Sepultura were superb. Loved the old stuff and the new. The girl from Crypta slayed during Territory. Screw Max. He comes across as bitter as Dave Mustaine does these days.
Speaking of some kind of reunion I think a massive reason it won't happen is Gloria Cavalera and the fact she still manages that side of things. Iggor seams to have erased the part of his own history where he sided with Sepultura and continued on with them for over a decade
Absolutely, if Gloria never came into the picture I doubt there would ever have been a split in the first place
A rather common theme with Gloria is the amount of disgruntled ex Soulfly members when it comes to pay. She's in the Max business.
She's Extreme Sharon for Extreme Music
Quoteex Soulfly members when it comes to pay
Yeah your man Rizzo (Probably getting a little silly with it at this stage) is consistently calling them out.
Most of the bands now though are family affairs Soulfly Nailbomb Cavalera Cavalera Conspiracy are all practically a travelling family circus.
I remember her giving Sepultura shit for still playing Max songs live, while he goes out and does Nailbomb without Alex Newport, or tours album sets where Andreas wrote half the stuff
Then again she also claimed the US government called the morning of 9/11 to give her a warning, so she probably isn't the sanest person around
QuoteHaving participated in at least 15 albums with Max and countless others, I can pretty much predict when it's time to write and record. I make the schedules for releases and touring, so I just let Max know a couple weeks ahead, to start thinking about his topic, his riffs that will represent his vision, and who he will work with as the architect of his art. A couple times he gave me a blank stare...shock?....but usually he just goes with the flow.
The first steps are preparatory...he buys a simple notebook and then looks for a spot in the house to set his gear up at.
Did the place fill out a bit by the time Seps were on?
It filled up for Sepultura, definitely.
Yeah I remarked earlier a low turnout I just meant in terms of the 3Arena and capacity - there was a lot of curtain action, but the floor was healthy and healthy overall I'm sure.
Slayer also had a healthy turnout in the 3 arena for their "farewell" show. FOMO is a big factor.
Now, there was a lot more at the Slayer gig. All the bands heavy hitters there.
That's healthy to see. Looking forward to seeing them again on one of their other farewell tours... H'up da Seps!

For a band I've seen in the Top Hat, Academy, TBMC, Tivoli, Ambassador, etc, that was a superb turnout, I thought. It's not a venue were you usually see a band playing that style of music. The most upper seating level wasn't open but, apart from the two outside sections, the seating area where I was was pretty full too.
Absolutely, and you go down the supports and the likes of Sacred are a Whelan's Opium outfit so healthy turnout alright. I was seated myself B to E were full enough but A and G were completely empty, The floor was curtained too. I'd love to see the number but would guess 3.5-4.5K. As I was saying it was a bit novel to be able to wander up to the Merch Stall or for a beer without there being too much of a wait.
It's only my third time there since it stopped being the Point Depot but I'd say there were more people there than the Priest Feast, whenever that was. They're still an underground band, in my mind, particularly since the split and maybe I'm the only one who thinks that, but I thought they were fucking nuts booking that place 😂
They pulled it off, though. Fair fucking play, I say.
Priest Feast my man was 2009 and there were more at that for sure. Priest, Megadeth and Testament. Bit more pulling power there.
Plenty of elbow room at that, I remember. Either way, a band like Sepultura that pulling that kind of crowd to that venue is an achievement.
I thought the Olympia was a stretch for them on the first retirement gig. I was fearful that they'd be playing to a well empty 3 Arena for this last show. It was amazing to see a band of their scale pull a crowd like they did.
Back in the 90s, the Point was the place for the Metallicas and AC/DCs when they were on form. Now these bands are shite and they can manage the Aviva, Slane and Croke Park! Perhaps I've underestimated these bands popularity or perhaps there is a legitimate move that attracts people to an "event" as opposed to a concert as a music fan only.
It's mad to think that below the Sepultura level tier that bands can barely afford to hit Ireland anymore, let alone a decent sized venue.

I thought it was a great night, only caught the end of Crypta, thanks to an old lady causing a mile long tailback on the N2, Sacred Reich were excellent. Bloodbath actually had me stuggling to stay awake, Biohazard, entertaining, though I'm sure they could have given Brooklyn a few more shout outs. Sepultura were excellent, first time seeing them since '17.
