The "curated C-90 mixtape" young fella in me will always be blown away at the sheer amount of music I can now keep in me pocket. I'm happy to bop away to albums via this medium no bother, but also love me a nice wee playlist of random shite. Particularly great for doing housework.
On the go at the minute I've this selection...
Blood Incantation - Obfuscating the Linear Threshold.
Babylon Zoo - Spaceman.
Kila - Jasmine.
Dead Kennedys - Holiday In Cambodia.
Allie X - Saddest Smile.
Lacuna Coil - Heaven's A Lie.
Kendrick Lamar - ADHD.
Tanita Tikaram - Good Tradition.
Paradise Lost - Rotting Misery.
Sisters of Mercy - Temple of Love 1992.
Erasure - Sometimes.
Sleater-Kinney - Jumpers.
Sleater-Kinney - Good Things.
Rush - Freewill.
Siouxsie and the Banshees - Happy House.
Way Out West - Hypnotise.
FM84 - Running in the Night.
HIM - Right Here in My Arms.
Eurthymics - Who's That Girl.
Chris Isaak - Wicked Game.
Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate Love Song.
Ozzy Osbourne - Bark at the Moon.
Black Sabbath - Killing Yourself to Live.
ABBA - Lay All Your Love on Me.
Fleetwood Mac - Everywhere.
Pixies - Letter to Memphis.
Joni Mitchell - Amelia.
Schizophrenia - Sea of Sorrow.
Shalamar - A Night to Remember.
The Cure - A Forest.
There's a rake more on it, and I've twenty or so of these playlists, but they're just handy to fire on without being in the mood for anything in particular. And sometimes I'll do the old school compilation thing of associating the end of one song with the start of another. Like I've Voivod - Tribal Convictions on another list right before Gene Pitney - Something's Got a Hold of My Heart, and I can't hear the former without thinking of the latter now.
Ya, I've MP3 best-of compilations per band and per genre. Throw it on shuffle and you get a surprise playlist. I probably do most of my listening this way these days.
