Just released their first new song in over 30 years and I am all a flutter. New album coming in October.

They recently put the documentary up on youtube, well worth a watch, I would say

Everything in the world is going to be ok now.
I think the older records maybe getting repress treatment from BMG too.
If it's anything like their Celtic Frost & Voivod ones we're in for a treat!
Not bad, reminds me of some old Grip Inc. tune ..didn't know there was a new album due, great news!
I like it. Very modern sounding but also recognisably Coroner. Given they were ahead of their time in the 80s that makes sense.
This is pretty solid. Really liking it so far.
Great doc, worth the time. Tight band. Franz Treichler also giving a brief comment is pretty cool among many others of course.
Watched the doc last night. Too long but definitely worth the time, loads of interesting stories and insights about band dynamics, etc. I don't think I knew about the aborted original Grin recording session. Can't help but be curious what that album would have sounded like if they'd managed to get it down as Tommy had envisaged.

Doesn't count after 93 man sorry
Another new tune released

The album's 'available' already, haven't heard it yet but that track's really good.
These two new tunes are great.
Agreed, I'm loving both, very optimistic for this one :abbath:
Well this is a pleasant surprise after the disappointing come back effort by Dark Angel
Damn right ,could only manage once through the Dark Angel, this is impressive stuff from the Swiss.
My expectations are always low for bands putting out new stuff after 20 plus years, but this is sounding great
This finally dropped today. I had high hopes after the two singles, but this has surpassed them.
Album of the year material.
I've it lined up for tonight's listening!!!
So much to love about this album, Trinity and Sacrificial Lamb are doing it for me, in particular. It's a Monothiest level comeback.
They've put out a lyric video for Consequence. The vocoder, just beautiful, but the way it comes back in from the quiet section... jaysus, lads, I put it to you  :abbath:

This is fuck8jg fantastic, second listen today and its starting to click what a comeback and so much going on , this will keep me coming back i know
A band I was well aware of but never properly explored.Fixing that now!
Been drinking this whenever I can since it released, and it's honestly one of their best. Absolutely one of the greatest comebacks on the go.
It still has to sink in (and I have not even bought a physical copy yet), but it is far better than Grin (thankfully) and seems to be a very good album, but perhaps not a classic. Still a great comeback album, though!
It took several listens to really settle for me, but I've generally had it on repeat and there have been moments where I thought it might be the greatest thing they've ever done. I'm not sure, perhaps it's the glut of tired soundalike shite which has usually been the hallmark of most old-band-new-albums over the last 20 years which makes it stand out as a truly notable achievement, but I'm definitely in the "love it" camp. There's more than enough deviation from the past to justify its existence and what new avenues they've followed, they've done it extremely tastefully while still being unmistakably Coroner. I could listen to Tommy solo all day long, so the generally shorter solo sections are very welcome when they come. There's no shortage of great riffs but the songs have got a lot of depth beyond basic riffage.
We are richer for having it.
Also, Grin is fucking class :abbath:
Agreed on most of the old bands doing things by the numbers, especially when it gets to the second album after the comeback.
I will give the Coroner album another few listens and hopefully it will click even more than it has.
We'll have to disagree on Grin (like Spheres and a couple of other albums from that time, it is always a case of loving or hating them, with few falling between those poles).
Enjoying the new album.
Reminds me of Gojira and Opeth in parts.
Some great solo's too.
I've had it on repeat, just a quality album overall. Baron's solo's are amazing. I've also gone back to Grin which I enjoyed more than at the time.
Ive pretty much had Mental vortex spinning most days the last few weeks!.Criminal that i ignored this band for my whole metal life!😅
One of my all-time favourite albums, possibly the very top one. Sublime.
I went to the album launch gig in Zurich last weekend, the new stuff came across fucking deadly live, they played four songs from it. They've reintroduced more songs from Mental Vortex and No More Colour to the set, eased off on Grin a bit. I'd fucking love to see them play here, eventually.
Lovely stuff

Playing here would go down very well indeed I'd imagine. Vortex is class always loved the album cover.
I have tried time and again to get into RIP, Mental Vortex etc and I missed them back then so when i listen now i just dont get them, pity. The new album is probably album of the year for me. It's stunning. Impossible not to re-start it as soon as it finishes. Fair play to them for coming back so strong after so many years. Id love to see them play it in full.
Except the last song. I hate that they added the unnecessary organ solo. But hey, nobody's perfect.
Weren't they meant to play here a few years back with Candlemass, in the National Stadium?
I think the promoter was dodgy as fuck and the whole thing fell apart, hopefully that hasn't stopped them from thinking about coming here on a tour
Clang festival or something along those lines.
Finding it difficult to pick this up at a reasonable price. Currently 26e for the CD on Amazon, 29e at Season of Mist...bloody hell like

Checked that out ,thanx, still 25e with shipping though so that's a no go. I dunno, I just find it a bit more expensive than other contemporary releases for some reason. Ah but sure it's Black Friday week, we'll all be quids in with our knocked down vinyl and needless new kitchen gadgets.

Freebird might be an option for the Listenable stuff here too as they've had a few of their represses (Gorguts/Manowar/SyL,) in the past.
Got the record yesterday, album of the year for me by a mile
This has to be one of, if not the best comeback album of all time.

30 years I think, yeah up there for sure.
I don't think I had ever heard a note of Coroner before but I gave this a go the other night and enjoyed it overall, will go back to it for definite.
Fair play. I'm way off the template here in not loving this album as much as others but, yeah, great band ,do check out Mental Vortex and No More Color ..enjoy the ride
Finally got round to a first full listen to this last night. Some parts are amazing, some less so, and most often that comes down to what, on first listen, felt like uninspired patches of vox & lyrics. For the most part loved it though, so those gripes may yet evaporate.
'Sacrificial Lamb' is the best song losing half of it's length after it's great versebridgechorus X2. That pinch harmonic in the second chorus though, whallop. The album is trippy catchy though. This is what a great band is capable of in their later years simply what Coroner have did. 'Sacrificial Lamb' and 'Trinity' are just such rifftastic class and I'm reminded of Death's song 'Flesh and The Power It Holds' in 'Transparent Eye'. Some of the tech metal dark side has a smoothed out ambience and has been shed for thrashy catchiness but this comeback is as successful as fellow Swiss band Celtic Frost's 'Monotheist'. The Keith Emerson style keyboard solo in closing jam 'Prolonging' is the perfect outro.
