Finally announced :abbath:
Holy shit! ???
Excited for this but also a bit weary, how to you compete with a masterpiece like WFAD after 20 years! The debut is brilliant too.
Stoked for the reissues as I never picked up the albums on vinyl first time round. Hopefully this means they'll tour outside of festival dates and I might get a chance to see them live.
Very cool.
Very interesting.
Wasn't expecting that. Class.
Yeah for some reason even though they were to play new material I wasn't expecting a whole album. They've become a minor meme in certain circles but I still get goosebumps listening to them.
40 Watt Sun have gone in such a more delicate direction so it would be cool, but very unlikely, to see Warning delve back into the Victorian Gothic horror buzz of the demos and The Strength to Dream. I love Watching from a Distance but I've grown to love The Strength to Dream just as much, if not more in the past decade.
Yeah I reckon I'm listening to Strength to Dream more these days too.
I never took to them but my taste has changed a lot since I last heard them (whenever WFAD came out) so I'm due a revisit.
Interesting news. Also a reminder I need to pick up the reissues from a while back cos my cds have vanished.
Quote20th Anniversary Deluxe Reissue of WARNING's legendary 'Watching from a Distance' Out January 16, 2026 on DLX 4LP Boxset / 2LP / CD/ Streaming Now
WARNING currently in the studio recording their new full-length album, slated for release in 2026, and have been announced for Roadburn 2026! "Watching from a Distance' Deluxe Edition 4LP Boxset is limited to 535 copies and includes the Watching From A Distance (Reissue) 2LP, plus the Watching From A Distance - Live At Roadburn 2LP, all housed in a rigid clamshell box with silver lamination.
The growth in popularity of Warning in the time since they've been away is mad.
I would love to hear them go full on doom again in the vein of The Strength to Dream but I'm sure whatever they come up with will be interesting.
I must listen to The Strength To Dream I've never heard a thing from it. WFAD is class. The cover art really represents the listening experience too
The Strength to Dream is one that will take a few listens to sink in. On initial contact it feels a bit ropey compared to Watching From A Distance. The production isn't as lush, it's more blunt like early Electric Wizard but without the psychedelics. The vocals aren't as refined either. But once your ear adapts to these discrepancies the album really opens up. It has a bit more of a Victorian horror vibe to it, although it is also filled with emotion. It's actually the one I reach for most when I need a Warning fix these days. Reco-feckin-mended!
Shamefully I don't own a physical copy of Watching.., and I have never heard the Roadburn release so I think I will need to invest.
Speaking of, if the announcement blurb is to be believed they'll be airing new material at the next roadburn. Im pretty hyped to say the least!
Pity the new relapse boxset is only WFAD and Live at Roadburn, was hoping for an album double whammy with the strength to dream. I don't really give a fuck about live albums so can't justify the price, the DLP will have to do.
I think Svart still have The Strength to Dream LP with original gammy artwork. It's the copy I have.
They must still have the rights but I don't think they've repressed in a few years :(
The reissue of Watching drops on Vinyl/CD next week. Have it on CD but am indulging in a vinyl.
