I'll definitely hit this just to see Soothsayer. Can't remember the last time that I saw them live.

I presume that Soothsayer are the middle act?

Not a fan of Zhora at all so I'll slip away somewhere else for a pint early.

Or just go home. Like the cranky old cunt that I am.

Same! It's been too long.
Soothsayer are the real draw here.

zhOra are decent enough. Seen 'em live plenty of times as well.
Enjoyed them for what they were, but not really my cuppa tea these days.
Getting old and picky, I suppose.

I like their albums, but they kinda seem a bit overlong.
Except for the last one, "Mortals" which I thought was savage. Definitely more direct and to the point which suited them better.
I think Covid fucked up any and all momentum that album could muster before it even had a chance to really get going.

Mortals is more focused if you get my drift. I've always liked them but always thought a tiny but more of a hook amongst the prog would really hit home and got that with Mortals.

I'd definitely recommend watching them because that seems the be the way they've gone since that new album, really punishing stuff the few times I've caught them since.

Thanks for that - one of the lads is coming up from West Cork and was trying to figure out if he'd make the Connect bus after Soothsayer finish their set so he could have a few pints or have to sty on the dry and drive.

He'll have to leg it but he can enjoy a few scoops!

Soothsayer were absolute class the other night, the new song is crushing and Hughes remains one of the best front men around. There was a heap of feedback for the first part of their set, I had earplugs in so I didn't really notice it. In fact, I thought they were using a sequencer initially.

Halcyon Low were worth getting in early for - pretty solid first gig for sure - the vocals weren't the best but I think they may have had a monitor issue... or just weak vocals.

Didn't stick around for Zhora.
