Post by: Slaughterday on April 28, 2025, 09:15:09 PM
Looking for any and all recommendations for any newer bands or older obscure bands taking heavy influence from these albums... shameless ripoffs welcome! Closest ones I have found so far is

Exhumed - Gore Metal, Anatomy is Destiny

Exhumed were my first thought but I think the new Consumption album might fit the bill from the one listen I gave it a few weeks back.

Impaled and The County Medical Examiners would be more Carcass worship from the Exhumer lads.

Pathologist is the best of the old school stuff. Grinding Opus of Forensic Medical Problems is savage.

Putrid Offal are a French band who have been on the go for a while. They released a great album in 2020 called Sickness Obsessions which throws in a few curveballs like Gregorian chanting.

Septage are a newer band worth checking out.

Pharmacist and County Medical Examiners would be the best of the bunch. Both bands are unfortunately split up.

I'd recommend the demos and first full.length of the Dutch band Gorefest. Best heavily Carcass influenced early death metal i am familiar with.

Some class recommendations here...cheers! Definitely some bands I had overlooked in the past (especially Gorefest) but time for a revisit I think.

Impaled's Dead Shall Dead remain album and Exhumed's Gore Metal are where it at for me in terms of stuff that slots between the Symphonies/Necroticism sound. Both albums have re-recorded versions for some weird reason, but they're not the same.

Fester Decay from Japan have some stuff that's pretty solid too if you want a more Reek of Putrefaction vibe. The album Reality Rotten to the Core even has a Reek/Symphonies style meat collage cover. Think one of them is in Viscera Infest too who are pretty insane but fall more into that Mexigorge chaotic sound.
There's probably a legion of Japanese bands that follow that Reek sound pretty faithfully. Crash Syndrom are another one that comes to mind. Even Butcher ABC's North of Hell was pretty decent.

I would rate Anatomy is Destiny higher than anything Carcass has released since Heartwork.

Yes, these ones rule. The Choice Cuts EP and the split with Haemorrhage, Dementia Rex, are class too.

Forgot about Choice Cuts, that's a good one!
Did they ever put out a compilation of all their ep's and splits?
