QuoteDoom metal legends @pentagram_usa will hit @whelanslive on Sunday 6th July. Tickets on sale Wednesday 10am from @tmie & venue site
US cult doom metal veterans Pentagram will make their long-awaited return to Belfast this summer in support of their new album "Lightning in a Bottle". The band will play the Limelight Belfast 2 on Monday 7th July. Tickets on sale NOW from www.ticketmaster.ie . Supports TBC.
Great news that show in Whelans years ago that I think Sentinel and DME had to step in to save was amazing. Liked Pentagram before that but that gig gave me a new level of appreciation for the band.
They have poster up on the Distortion and DME pages if someone wants to post it here and I can add it to the main post as I have no idea how to add it in here from the web.
Unfortunately I'll probably be away for this.
Just a heads up for anyone though, last week Pentagram (or Bobby really) became a bit of an internet meme on social media, could sell out quick because people want to see the 'crazy old guy' fronting a metal band.
Can't see people who don't know anything about the band or metal paying E40 to look at an old man....?
Yea, the meme will be dead and gone by Friday. Nobody is going to this for that reason.
Should be good, not seen them since that 2009 gig. Something was on the Saturday of that weekend, was is Gospel of the Horns for the Invictus anniversary? I think that was that year.
GotH was the Friday night and Pentagram the Sat, if I remember correctly.
If it was the same weekend, GOTH was definitely a Saturday (possibly the same week as the first Arthur Guinness Day), cause it was an all-day job.
I missed that gig. Really think I should have gone in retrospect, but sure. Maybe there was a valid excuse but who knows.
OPoD and WotH were playing in Enniskillen.
GotH was the Sat and Pentagram was the Sunday so.
The Gospel Anniversary gig was in the Music Centre and Pentagram was in Whelans. Yeah it was definitely a Saturday and a Sunday because I remember being wrecked in work on the Monday.

Fucking hell. I remember that alright.
I remember being at GotH so we must've played Enniskillen on the Sunday night, to a rapturous crowd of about 8 people.
7 if I'm not mistaken. Gargantuan's groupie left after they played.
Any supports announced for this?

Ritual King
Show's been upgraded to Opium now with extra tickets added.
Good for sales, but a shame - Whelans is far superior venue.

True. I'm not a fan of Opium at all.
Shite news worst venue in the city. The only upside is it won't be a sweat box now. The heat inside Whealns has been really bad for the last few shows I went to there.
Yeah I'm raging a bit as well, whelans is the better venue, glad for all involved but like...to me whelans is iconic and I always like going there
Ooh... Didn't realise there is also a Belfast show. Anyone double dipping?
Ticket for sale for this, DM me.
I see all the English dates have been rescheduled but the 2 Irish shows are still going ahead 8) . I would guess the band must be in Dublin by now and they will be at the Foggy Dew at that Sentinel metal market thing tomorrow before the show.
Dublin show sold out yesterday.
Looks like the Belfast show has now been cancelled as well. Doesn't effect me as I was only heading to Dublin. Probably a few on here that intended on heading to Belfast.

Still have this for sale.
Pentagram were great. Did people not show up last night due to the confusion with the last minute cancellation of Belfast or what? 3/4's of the venue was packed then when you went down the back were the bar is their was loads of space this was suppose to have been sold out. I didn't see any merch stand either.
I see Belfast and the UK dates are being rescheduled I wonder will they play Dublin again as part of that given how well this show sold.

Didn't get a ticket as initially I thought I'd be away this weekend, then was seeing it was sold out, thn Scobes mentioned to me that it wasn't yesterday afternoon by which time I'd other plans. Fuck it anyway. How was the setlist?Seemed like they were leaning on newer stuff recently which wouldn't have done a huge amount for me.
didn't they sell merch in the Foggy that afternoon?
Was chatting to the guitar player for a bit outside the Foggy and he said that they tried to get the merch in on the sly but got caught by customs and were there for the whole day. The merch only got to the foggy at 7 or so and only had one style of t shirt with a couple other bits

They played maybe 5 or 6 from the latest album the rest was spread across Relentless and Show em. I didn't make it to the pre-show thing so not sure what went on with that. I wonder if Bobby showed up to the Foggy? Have seen people saying he was seen around Dublin in the few days before the gig.
It's mad to think that Bobby is only 4 years younger than Ozzy, was on crack for I don't know how many decades and he is still going strong yet Ozzy is fucked. I think Bobby outdid Ozzy when it came to drugs. He also clearly has no signs of stopping because from what I have read they were going to do the Belfast gig under the radar but the band decided against it at the last minute in case it effected them getting UK visas for future tours. Bobby is going the way of Wattie were both will most likely die either on stage or on tour. Which they both deserve a lot of respect for.
