Not a bad day out, wouldn't mind hitting one but it'll depend on the price and indeed flying that time of year will be spicy enough.
Should have been a Dublin date, would have sold out Malahide or something stupid. Far cry from the academy 10 years ago.
Yeah a Dublin Date would've done well alright especially with that lineup
Those Academy shows were designed to mop up cash. They were no frills - no support and multiple nights, limelight too.
Did the 3 Arena sell out the last time they played? I doubt they'd sell out Malahide Castle, even with all the shite support bands.
3 Arena was close enough, maybe not sold out but fairly close I heard 12K I think.
There's a few days between the two shows, which seems slightly odd to me
I don't think it is, they do the first one, few days off do the sabbath thing, few days off then the other date. They'll mop it up big time.
I still remember the boyo who was butt naked in the pit in Cork.
I had not clocked this was the weekend of the Sabbath show, 100% makes sense, have decent little trek around the UK if someone was so inclined (I am not ;D )
Had a look at the presale there, fuckin 125 euro for standing for London. That's not including TMs wanky fees so put another 5 to 10 euro on.

pure rip off
In fairness, that's a lot of bands. If it was just Slayer and Anthrax, it would be a rip off.
If it was on here I'd probably go for the day out but it is kinda crazy money. Double what they charged for their last gig here and we got decent support.
Don't think I'd travel to see that line up and sure you know what 5 songs Anthrax are going to play anyway.
Hopefully they'll be back and have a 3Arena date.Think those 2 dates and the Sabbath thing are their only European dates in 2025.
Would love a standalone Mastodon date. They've not played here since 2019.

Personally I would prefer the Academy again which I know won't happen but even the Olympia would be great. The bigger shows at the 3Arena are shite when your stuck down the back. I wasn't here for the last show but last time I saw them was 2017 in a venue that holds just under 4k which was great.
Hatebreed are also long overdue an Irish show as I think 2013 was the last time they played here which is crazy given that the last few times they played the shows always sold out well in advance.
Mastodon don't seem that interested in doing club shows in Europe anymore. Think that January 2019 tour is actually the last time they did a European headline tour??
Can't blame them either, too easy to just take big money for 1 show at Bloodstock, Hellfest, Graspop instead of slugging it for weeks on end playing the academies and limelights.
I saw clips of Bill talking about the cost of everything post-covid really decimating their ability to tour, taking stage setup, pyro etc. Which is grand. But leave that in Holyhead if you have to, lads, just play a show.
Olympia would be ideal.i'm not a fan of the 3arena,it feels like being at a big cinema or something.
Those 2019 shows had Kvelertak and Mutoid Man in support, which was an amazing lineup, love to see that again.
That was a great gig, I've seen Bill talk about the finances behind touring and I don't get it, being a bigger band + on a major label they're surely raking in far more money than their peers in High on Fire or Baroness for example, and those bands don't seem to have any problem touring.
Seen clips from their Leviathan anniversary tour and they had a keyboard player which doesn't even feature on the album, maybe knocking stuff like that + the big screens/animations would be a good place to start.
That gig with Scott Kelly was class, as much as I love them, I still maintain had they had a consistent vocalist who could do it live they would have been the biggest metal band of the 21st century, they had the underground cred, the acclaim of the critics, just couldn't deliver live to grab that festival headliner gravitas.
Wonder who mastodon will have playing guitar as Hinds is outta the band

Well that was unexpected
I'll be going to Cardiff, flights €15 each way from Dub to Bristol.
Seems sales have been fairly shite. Paid £45 for my ticket with some 50% off promotion. Lots of other 2 for 1 deals, competitions to win free tickets for the Cardiff date especially.
Looking forward to it but gates are at midday for London and 5pm for Cardiff so not sure how they're going to fit in 5 bands in 5 hours.
Where was the promotion??

Used this one that was valid until yesterday. However I saw others and comments from people saying they were getting Facebook ads for half price tickets. Also saw a 2 for 1 listing on Ticketmaster but it's gone now. There will probably be even better deals next week as well as cheap resales.
Thanks a million - I'd ruled it out but maybe it's a goer.

Absolutely daft booking a show that size between Download/Sabbath/Bloodstock/Hellfest.
Anyone going to London? Few of us going over
Looking at flights here and a ticket this morning, given it's next week it ain't actually working out too bad - anyone got recommendation for somewhere cheap to stay?

Link for £20 Cardiff tickets for anyone thinking of going.
20 quid for that????
Oh they must be actually fucked
Discounting tickets and running promos like this seems to be more of a thing in the UK. If it became a regular thing here it would definitely disincentive me from buying tickets until the week of the gig. I got mine for £45 and still feel like an eejet

Fucking hell, flights are a bit steep for me but I'll keep looking and if cheaper ones come up I'll be pulling a sickie!

You can even pay over 3 interest free installments!!
I am regretting not going now after I saw the setlist. If they were ever going to do an Irish date it surely would have been around this tour.
Where's the setlist??
Quote from: Pagan Saviour on July 03, 2025, 06:59:52 AMWhere's the setlist??
A friend who is going said it's on the ticket? He said they'll do a 80 minute set.
When I looked at the setlist from recent gigs they did I wasn't that bothered about going.
London is London but given the way things have worked out for them could very well be the last time Wales see them.
You'd hope the Hatebreed lads are over taking in the Sabbath event as on 15 mins after doors to play 20 mins is hardly worth the journey.
The bare half hour for Mastodon is pretty criminal aswell.
Anthrax should be arrested wit that setlist. Fuckin eeejits.
Whole day was very enjoyable. Thought all bands were excellent really, even Anthrax who I wasn't arsed about and watched from the bar sounded pretty good.
The gold circle at the front was split in half and they opened one side for those with general standing, so had a great view in front of the sound desk or right down the front all night.
Whole thing was helped by the weather being pretty much perfect all day too.
Thought Slayer was class, tons of pyro etc. Well worth the travel, I'd even do it again and go to London if I could.

Had to look it up to see. Mad stuff. They had such limited time and that's what they settled on. They're a band with a wealth of amazing songs.
Let me guess, both Antisocial and Got The Time?
I think it's accurate. Cause they play the stupid intro tape and then Indians is extended cause they stop it and Joey walks around the front of the barrier. Don't remember for sure though.
They have to be the laziest band there is when it comes to picking a setlist, awful stuff
Horrendous, 5 songs and two are covers.
They entertain such a small slice of their career. I'd accept that they ignore the Bush era (But they're leaving out so many bangers, Room For One More, What Doesn't Die, Only etc) But they don't even play around with the rest of the catalogue, is Got the Time the only fuckin thing they can play off Persistence which is a savage record. There's other stuff off the other albums too that would be worth airing.
Then they obviously don't rate recent material - Earth on hell is a great track for example
Arseholes.
There is either a real disconnect between them and their fan base it they don't give a shit.
It seemed like Slayer slayered the shit out of it.
Watched a few videos there and slayer sound very rusty, tom forgetting lyrics. Suppose its to be expected when you arent touring on the reg. They were on all cylinders in Dublin for their last tour.
Hope the 30 minute slots are extended to 45m for London, given there were timing issues for Cardiff.
Slayer were decent.
The sound for Hatebreed and Amon Amarth was brilliant, merely passable for Slayer and Anthrax, and terrible for Mastodon. Brann's vocals had zero subtlety. It was like he was yelling in my ear.
