Ireland's @primordial_official will hit @academydublin on October 18th to play a very special setlist based on the 3 classic albums 'Spirit The Earth Aflame', 'The Gathering Wilderness' & 'To The Nameless Dead'. Special guests @saormusic & more TBA.
Bosh!
Surely not in full..? Very tempting nonetheless!
Excitement got the better of me.
That looks like it will be a night of fun.
Deadly. Could've immediately done better than fuckin Saor as support though.
Saor..yes..this will be mint
Saor was all the rage for a few weeks about 10 years ago then everyone just stopped talking about them  . A very poor man's Auld Ridge.
Three best albums for me.
This will be very tempting.
I might tag along
Got a ticket there, 2014 was the last time I saw them so looking forward to this setlist. I've never seen Saor before.
Yeah, I'll go to this all being well. Think Spirit/Storm/Gathering would be the better trio but can't complain really. They'll only play one song I don't like (As Rome Burns) instead of only playing 2 or 3 that I do like if it was a regular current day setlist.
I wouldn't have Saor in the same breath as the majestic Auld Ridge, Micko. I've seen them a couple of times and it's that vague atmospheric stuff I think, like Winterfylleth. The first album the guy did,Askival, showed promise but clearly went down a different path after that one.
Could be a great night. Gigs are rare for me these days. The Foggy was good craic for Emperor last year so hopefully more of the same buzz for this. Might run in to Chris again and actually recognise him this time!
Just got ticket there..have new saor album on as well now it's a cracker...all their albums are a great listen in fairness
Assuming they play it, worth it alone for "The Coffin Ships"
I'm gonna say that's been every Primordial gig since 2005.
I'd say that's a safe bet. Would be fine if they didn't play it at this one.
Ah that's a great song
It is of course. I'm not challenging that.
But sure you'd want to see it live again wouldn't you
 I've seen it plenty. If it's taking the place of any other song on TGW or Spirit, I'd happily swap it out.
I think the gathering wilderness title track is great hope that gets a spin
Just realized I'll be back in Ireland for this. I'm only a very recent Primordial convert so will head along (Storm before Calm turned it around for me), from memory they've had some decent support in the pass so hopefully someone better than Saor is announced, Malokarpatan would do the trick :abbath:
Random question but how come Paul hasn't been playing bass live with Primordial?
Quote from: Mark on March 07, 2025, 01:16:11 PMRandom question but how come Paul hasn't been playing bass live with Primordial?
Some sort of injury, not sure of the details.
He fucked his shoulder.
That's a good trick. Must be flexible.
It has been a long time since I have seen Primordial live so I think I will head to this.
Hoping the support ends up as good as last time in Dublin.
The other support I know of is savage but Saor still ruin it for me. Absolute nothing band.

Any hint?
Afraid not.
Afraid not... a frayed knot... the frayed ends of sanity... is it... Metallica??? Holy shit.
Is it Metallica?
Keep it to yourselves.
Waiting impatiently for the support announcement. I'm in full unrealistic speculation mode as this is the only decent gig I'm home for.
Not gonna make this now. Cuntish.
It's Beherit.
Quote from: Eoin McLove on April 29, 2025, 01:07:18 AMIt's Beherit.
Did you see my pre edited post or weird coincidence
No. Is that what you said too?
Haha yeah I literally posted I can't help but hope it's Beherit and then seen they have a gap in their schedule but realized I was looking are their September dates and felt silly and deleted it
It'll be someone amazing like Wynterfylleth :P
Yeah, no doubt 😮💨

They were good in Limerick recently
QuoteWynterfylleth
Indeed, I do like the new record and missed them earlier in the year but I reckon it'll be something in and around that.
Scutter.
But in fairness, Primordial have more often than not put together a good line up so it might yet be Burzum.
Dunno how many times I've seen Wynterfylleth supporting bands at this point, please no. Would be cool if it was 1914.
They're boring shite. Saor have filled that gap perfectly for this show anyway.
Bolzer and Coscradh added. Band I was talking about isn't happening now, well, not at this anyway.
Boozer great
That's decent
:'( :'( :'(
Well if Coscradh are going then I'm going, they're a great bunch of lads. Ticket got, I've never seen Primordial headline before so this is looking like a good night out :abbath:
Not long for this now. Anyone any idea if stage times? I don't see anything online besides doors 5pm, but I need to book transport around something else on that day and wondering how far I can push things out. Be grand if Saor were on first like  Thanks for any help
17:00 Doors
17:20 - 17:50 Coscradh
18:15 - 18:55 Bolzer
19:10 - 20:00 Saor
20:20 - 22:00 Primordial
.. subject to change
Thanks a million 043. Well looking forward to this tomorrow :abbath:
Spirit the Earth Aflame is my fave Irish album ever, but would have loved it combined with Storm Before Calm. Twill be savage anyway surely. And it's been too long since I've seen Bolzer. I'll be too late for Coscradh though.
anyone want a ticket? I'm cancelling last minute. can only transfer via ticketmaster. pm if interested :)
Anyone know what's going on? Main floor roped off still.
Quote from: jpm4 on October 18, 2025, 05:32:08 PMAnyone know what's going on? Main floor roped off still.
They're letting Alan have a wee rant about lockdown again in a tapered off section, so he can get it out of his system before the show?
:)
Well Coscradh and Bolzer were great, caught the end of Munster hammering Leinster in the Oval its all good so far.
Yeah got in on time for Coscradh in the end, and the lack of starting time to account fir the delay led me fecking off to the Oval for a pint. They were over by the time I returned so they got a raw deal maintaining the same stage times. Delighted to hear they got sigend to 20 Buck Spin, fair feckin play lads.
Bolzer were the business, but strange they couldn't use the cloak room. Mad to see Frank Spenser as a drum tech also :abbath:
Primordial were class. I couldn't care less about seeing them for years, including just going for the support for Drowned and fecking off before Primordial came on, but it was a great idea to focus on specific albums. No Song of the Tomb, one of my fave songs, has me raging like a wounded animal though
Had a great chat with Peter Rees during Saorview, with some gem stories about The Shining, and the most fearsome ginger in Dublin metal (not Averill    )

Are people still in the queue for their first pint at the after party in the Grand Social??
I went in for a pint before the bus back to Cork and it was mental to say the least, so I headed downstairs instead and that was perfect (bar meeting Mael Mordha folk  )
Lads who replaced Mick? Didn't recognise the other guitarist?
Quote from: Pagan Saviour on October 19, 2025, 10:11:00 AMLads who replaced Mick? Didn't recognise the other guitarist?
Is it not Gerry from Mael Mordha?
He used fill in for Mick before.
Great gig, really liked Saor, Bolzer decent too.
Primordial were the biz as usual, love the Gathering wilderness so delighted with setlist.
I missed Coscradh due to shitty traffic on the quays.
Really enjoyed Bolzer, my first time seeing them, great energy for a two piece.
Saor were terrible, no stage presence, songs that go nowhere.
Primordial were class as always. Traitors Gate was the highlight for me.
Thought Primordial were class. That's the band I know and love. Brilliant set list. So refreshing to hear much of the classic era delivered with such intensity. AA is a great vocalist if only he would stick to that gravely style which was the hallmark of that era. Very little in the way of the modern clean wail last night. I would have preferred if they did Storm instead of TTND. I think those three albums would run better together and TTND was the beginning of the end for me.
Coscradh was decent. A band that never fully clicked with me. Think they started late and only got 20 minutes.
Bolzer was fine but are much diminished from the act that blew minds when they emerged first around 15 years ago.
I had a snooze up in the balcony area during Saor. Great band for that. I don't mind pagan/folk metal but it's extremely difficult to do right. They lack a bit of an edge. Too soft. Your man's first band Askival were better. Polish band Stworz are an example of a band who pull off the pagan/folk style convincingly.
Good turn out. Crowd seemed well in to it. The pints I was drinking were 8.80 robbing cunts. Also the after party seemed a bit flat. Emptied out early I though.
Top night anyway and again hats off to Primordial for proving they are the top dogs in Irish metal.
€8.80 for a pint of session IPA? That's not a price, that's a ransom.

Great gig that. Really enjoyed Bolzer! Top night. Some poor cunt lost his show during Primordial 🤣
