Fuck yes. They're excellent live, will likely head to this.

If they did Limerick I'd definitely go, but there's very little would get me to Dublin these days
I've just found out they're playing Cork on the 23rd as well! Thank fuck
Just saw the cork gig online there too. Lethal definitely driving down for that.

Lovely hurling. I've seen them a few times over the years - always good - they played Cyprus Avenue once, if not twice, that I recall as well.
I wonder if the sound system in The Pav is up to this though?
Do they play the recent stuff live, or the drone stuff? The last album of theirs I liked came out in 2008.

Should be fine. They regularly host dance nights and any time I've stuck the head in those have been fairly slamming, that stuff is pretty demanding on the system. Last (only) time I saw Earth it wasn't outrageously loud, and it wasn't PA limitation because I saw The Body in the same venue and jeeeeeeesus that was heavy. They've space to run amps loud to carry it anyway, just need a touch of reinforcement.

It's not the volume that would concern me - it's more the nuance.
The Pav used to have an infamously small sound sweet-spot of about 2 square metres on the centre left-hand side of the main floor.
I saw The Buzzcocks there years ago, it was loud as all Christ but you couldn't actually hear anything.
That may have been a bit ahead of my time, but haven't noticed any major issues at any of the iterations of the place I've been to in the meantime - every single one of which used a different sound system, as far as I'm aware.
They can play through a tin can for all I care anyway, I get to walk down the road and see Earth

This is true, of course. As usual I focus on the finger and miss all the heavenly glory.
Earth down the road, coupla' two or five pints and home on a ten minute bus.
Tickets don't appear to be on sale yet.
Here's the tickets for Cork

What is age limit in Pav for this I wonder

I would imagine it's 18+ but there's no mention of it on the listing. Doors are early too.
You could always message Michelle @ Tinnitus Promotions - she's fairly quick to respond.
This isn't far away at all now, kinda crept up on me. Great to have them come to Cork again.
The Dublin show is sold out.

Doors at 6.30 and StoutandAle was mentioning a club night at 11pm when we were chatting on text yesterday.

Doors are listed at 1830hrs on the ticket
and The Pav's website.
I misread the club bit though- that's on in the bar downstairs, not in the venue!
https://thepav.ie/
I would assume that the support will be on at 1915/1930hrs with Earth on at 2030hrs? Looking at their set-list; Earth will do about 80 - 90 mins.
From Michelle @ Tinnitus Promotions:
"Doors are now 8pm Maud the moth approx 830 pm Earth should be on stage by 930pm"

Christ - glad I read this. That's a fair change.
Nice one.

Bit of a difference alright!
Listening to "The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull" atm
A great album
Just finished "Primitive And Deadly"
Good atmosphere throughout
Next will be "Hex; Or Printing In The Infernal Method" 20 years old!
... One of my favourites by them
Bliss
From social media - Earth (and support) are only accepting CASH at the merch stand for their Irish dates.
No mention of prices. Bring folding money.
Cheers
Probably signed drum-heads ??!
No thanks ::)
I've actually got two tickets that I forgot about, can't be fucked going. They're emailed to me as they were bought from Whelans instead of Tickets.ie or Ticketmaster.
Am I allowed to advertise for ticket sales on here? Sorry if not.
You are, no harm to stick a post in the Classifieds section too.
The Cork gig was one of the most underwhelming shows that I have been to in a long time - so much so that I gave up and went home halfway through their Motley Crue "cover".
Definitely nowhere near the best that I have seen Earth.
The venue's decision to leave the house lights on throughout the show was downright bizarre.
It could have been much louder - no heft at all.
I was on the main floor, close enough to the stage - and every cunt around me was just chatting away mindlessly.
All in all - a shit night or - more accurately, 90 minutes, out.
It was a strange enough gig, to be fair.
Full lights were a bit naff. Made it more of a pub atmosphere in the crowd and a little 'Grand Ole Opry' for the band on stage.
Sound was low but very clear everywhere in the venue. No need for earplugs at all, like.
Wardy and myself were up the back for half of it, then along the side and on the middle of the floor at the end and there was very little change in the sound. Could have been turned up to 11 for sure, though.
The Pav should be a great venue, but the stage set up is shockingly shit with those stupid handrailings and the mens jacks underneath. Even if the stairs to the jacks were moved to the side wall (or both walls if fire regs are the issue) and just leave the front of stage as open as possible.
That's been the building as far as I ever remember being there for gigs going back 10+ years, doubt anyone is going to change that.
Full lights is silly alright.
Still sickened I missed it, though any other friends who went seemed to really enjoy it!
The sound certainly was very clear - so much so that I wondered if they were running through Fractals or something for a minute. But there was just absolutely no punch to it. Seemed to be a lot of issues with Davies' monitors and there was some noise through Carlson's amp early that he seemed miffed about.
The jacks situation is annoying - I don't understand why they didn't move them to somewhere at the back as you make your way up the stairs into the venue.
The stage could be a foot or so higher as well. I'm tall enough so I could see no problem but there were some people on the main floor that had no view at all.
Don't get me wrong - it's great that Earth came back to Cork, Michelle/Tinnitus Promotions is doing superb work getting heavy bands to play in this oft-forgotten town and it's fantastic to see The Pav doing something other than shit dance music gigs. I had been looking forward to it for months and it just wasn't a great show - in my opinion.
And... I can be a cranky cunt so take what I said with a slight need for calibration.
Great gig
Really enjoyed it
Bill Herzog added a nice bit to the sound
As JohnOB mentioned, the sound was very clear, way at the back; to the side; & a few metres from the stage
There could have been a bit more low end, especially off the guitar to beef it up
Drums were fine; but were played around with quite a bit during the gig
The lights were annoying (just on, & that was it), but always great to see Earth
A bit more effort, & this could be a great venue
The stage setup needs a bit of modernising alright
We're a long way from the 1920s!

On the other hand, perfect spot for Imperial Triumphant :abbath:
