Title: Circle Jerks, Descendents and Negative Approach Dublin / Belfast 09-10/03/25
Post by: mickO))) on December 12, 2024, 04:52:57 PM
Haven't seen a thread for this. Personally I have no interest in the Descendants anything I ever heard had that Blink 182 / Offspring pop music type sound. Circle jerks would be good to see but Negative Approach would be my main reason for going.

Looks like Dublin is close to selling out, saw MCD put a low ticket warning out yesterday and the show has that low availability warning on the TM site.

Sun 9th Mar 2025 -The Academy, Dublin
Mon 10th Mar 2025 - Limelight, Belfast

Yeah reversed running order for this would be ideal. Will probably hit up the Belfast show regardless

Descendants are really good (they just influenced a lot of shitty bands)

Anyone go to this? Negative Approach were great. Enjoyed the Circle Jerks but Keith is very annoying on stage. Saw him with Flag about 10 years ago and he was the same.

NA know how to do it fuck all shite talk in between songs just lashing out as many tunes as possible. Hope they come back for a headline show.

For reference for people NA shirts were 25, 7' 20 and Circle Jerks shirts were 30 so my guess is with the venue cut bands can't sell shirts for less than 25 in the Academy or they will be losing money.

Going to Belfast tonight, was the shirt range decent?

NA had 3 shirts a logo one, a green tied down one and something else. Circle Jerks had a load of merch but I only had a quick glance and no idea what the descendants had as I have no interest in them.

Get in early NA started last night about 40mins after the doors opened and it was one of the biggest crowds I have ever seen for an opening band.

Descendents had a decent amount, there was a black tour shirt, another blue shirt and maybe like two others.

There was a split 7" for sale, the signed version was €50 I think

I'm normally pretty easy going about "personalities" but Keith Morris must be one of the most irritating vocalists around. Couldn't listen to the stuff he was coming out with, maybe that's what he is going for, but I couldn't listen to them!

Read some stories online yesterday from people who have met him in person and the majority said he was a prick. Still though crazy to think he's 70 years old this year and still doing live shows. It's mad a lot of people from the early UK punk scene are so friendly in person like Wattie, Colin Abrahall, Colin Jerwood etc. while a lot from the early US scene seem to be wankers.

That's a good point - I don't think I've ever felt that way about any of the UK/European punk bands.

Don't know if it was the same in Dublin, but the whole "this is how punk we are, these are our credentials" speech before they even played a note really rubbed me up the wrong way

Keith actually spoke about how he can be short with folks on tour on Turned Out A Punk a few years ago. Mixture of  diabetic related issues and general anxiety.
