Not metal but I know that there's a few heads on here into them.
TRM have some mighty riffs and are one of the best live bands that this island has produced in the last 30 years.
€20 too - bargain in this day and age. Nice way to beat the January blues.
I got my ticket from Whelan's website rather than Ticketbastard.

Must be twenty years since I saw them live, but they were indeed mesmerising. The two albums I have (plus a 7" or two) didn't quite capture the live energy I felt, but they were decent enough. I must root them out for a revisit. I didn't know they were still going.
I caught them at beyond the pale in the summer. They were stunning. So proggy and the band was on fire.
Think I was the opposite, thought the records were great but didn't enjoy the shows. Will head along to this one, great news all the same.
Listened to them a ton as a teenager and caught one of the few gigs they've done since, it was unreal, might have to go to this
Never heard a note. Recommendations?
Fairly sure they were one of the Richter Collective bands, with that scene of math-y bands, so if that's not your thing you'll probably hate them, but this was the one that I remember hearing and getting me hooked
And a live version for good measure!
I don't think that's for me, but thanks.

I like their records but, you are 100% correct, their live show has never been done justice on any album.
Last time that I saw them was in 2018 (Christ almighty!) on a cold January night in Whelan's. Missed the 20th anniversary show in Vicar St.
Their output/gigs are fairly sporadic these days. Richie has lived in Sweden with his wife and kids for years, doing the Jape thing. Matty has live in Malmo for over a decade as well.
There's only 3 original members left in the band now - Mervyn, the drummer, doesn't play with them any longer. I'm curious to see what they'll be like without him, he was unreal behind the kit.

If I was going to recommend any T.R.M. song to someone I would say it's "We Still Got It" - as close as they came to a "hit" single.

Yeah, they were part of the Richter Collective. They produced a new track, "Hidden Hands", a few months back that was released via RC's Bandcamp but I think the label is actually defunct for over a decade. I found that whole deal confusing because their records were put out on labels like Trust Me I'm A Thief and Greyslate as well.
I had a flashback reading your post. There were some excellent bands under the RC umbrella T.R.M., Adebisi Shank, Jogging, ASIWYFA, etc.
A band I was in a million years ago supported a few of those bands when they played in Cork - we always felt like the poor cousins from the South - most of those bands had played in AMERICA (!) and came back with cool clothes and records that we never even heard of.
The Redneck Manifesto lads, to a man, we some of the soundest heads I ever dealt with though.
Adebisi Shank, haven't heard that name in a whlie. Saw them in Galway yonks ago, savage stuff. I have a CD somewhere, I think.

They only announced a few weeks ago they are reforming for a few gigs.
I remember seeing that name on gig flyers in the past. I don't think I ever saw or heard them.
Anyone remember Hilton Weir? I saw them opening for Refused in 98 and never saw it hard anything from them again. They were Redneck Manifesto-y as I recall.
First gig is sold out - second night on sale. I had a feeling that'd be the case from day one.

Yep. Guitarist is the drummer in TRM. Saw them twice back in the day, they were cool, wasn't anyone else really doing that kind of emo-y thing here at the time..shame they didn't record, but they seemed like a shambles.
Briefly jammed with the basis in another project once and he didn't really play much from what I recall
Not going to make it to this gig tonight. Trains to Dublin cancelled. Don't fancy the drive at this stage.
Gutted. Absolutely sickened.
Anyone want a free ticket for tonight's (24.01.25) show? :abbath:
Ticket gone.

Hopefully I'll catch the Dolans show.
Over 20 yeats since I've seen them last.

Weren't they the support for FNM in the Olympia in 2009. I didn't see them but I'm fairly sure they were without going looking them up
No idea, I didn't go to that. I saw the classic line up in their prime (Angel Dust tour), I see no need to see them again.
Fair enough but they were still fantastic in the Olympia and were a real bucket list band for me. I'd say they were fucking savage on the Angel Dust tour all the same I'd have fucking loved to see that
They were mighty alright.

They were. Patton requested them from what I recall.
Adebisi Shank were a great live band. I last saw them at the Mantua festival in Roscommon, 2008 (alongside the likes of BATS and Rarely Seen Above Ground).
The Faith No More concert in 1992 was excellent. Their support that night was L7 who were on their "Bricks Are Heavy" (still a great album) tour. I was disappointed to miss their 2009 show in the Olympia but had been looking forward to seeing them play the Sunstroke festival in 2020 (damn Covid). Now, it seems unlikely (https://www.loudersound.com/news/faith-no-more-mike-patton-mike-bordin-band-futur) we'll get to see FNM with Mike Patton again.

Ya Adebisi shank are great live. We were expecting some mad guitarist doing the crazy bits but they were only samples.
Was that the mantua where it pissed rain the whole weekend?

Mantua was showery when I was there in 2008 – not raining for the whole weekend. Mantua had a great friendly vibe to it and I enjoyed the amateurness of the small festival. Tickets were cheap but there was hardly any security so a lot of people just turned up without tickets. Unfortunately, that wrecked it for the organisers and that was the last year they ran it.

Aye that's the one. It rained a bit and the ground was very mucky in parts. Ya crowd was friendly. Not checking tickets is mental.

Shit news. Also mad from reading that article to realise Sol Invictus is ten years ago

Really looking forward to the Cork show tonight.
The videos from Galway look class.
Not even going to spoil it looking it up, but the anticipation is real.
I'm sure they'll deliver, last time I saw them they were top notch.

I only saw the videos because I went looking for stage-times on their Instagram.
Never seen them do a bad show.
Support tonight is from Throwing Shapes who I haven't heard of before.
Throwing Shapes @ 2000hrs
The Redneck Manifesto @ 2100hrs
That was really nice. Good to see they were definitely having the craic as well.
Pity there's not more cool shit booked there because it's by far the best venue in terms of sound and production generally.

I got in just as the support, Throwing Shapes, had kicked off - they'd be grand to listen to if you were trying to relax but not great to get the blood pumping of a Friday night.
The Redneck Manifesto played well, as always, but there was no real energy for them to feed off. That has to be
the smallest crowd that I have seen them play to since they were starting out. There were less people in Cyprus Avenue than when they played De Barra's on a cold midweek night in 2016.
Were there even 100 people in the room? I don't think that there were.
TRM were good craic and the sheer look of panic/worry on Richie's face when he couldn't remember the opening riff of "Black Apple" was gas - amplified by Matty winding him up/not help him.
You're dead right in what you say about Cyprus Avenue needing to book more decent gigs - the space deserves better acts than (most of) the stuff that's they're programming.
Saw them in Dolans the other night. It was an enjoyable show, great energy and playing from the band. I thought it would have been a little busier (not that there was a bad crowd) but I'd imagine a lot of their crowd went to electric picnic.
