Title: Is rock dead
Post by: leatherface on September 23, 2024, 10:14:53 PM
I keep seeing/ reading this boring old narrative that "rock is dead", "there are no bands".. so tired and pointless. There are plenty of rock/ punk / etc take your pick bands out there, do your damn research.

They confuse rock music with 70s and 80s rock that involved shagging, snorting, wrecking hotels etc..now that rock certainly is dead..

I was at a local food and crafts fair in my town on Sunday and there was a band of teenagers playing music. It wasn't something that catered to my tastes but it was still brilliant to see 15 year olds playing real instruments and doing it properly. It had a very nostalgic quality for me. I was at a Dave Grohl tribute night thing there a few months ago (I heckled them to play some Probot and they played some Probot, so I was happy), and the opening act was a bunch of kids rattling through a few Muse songs.

I'm pretty sure the band wouldn't have been served alcohol, and the bass was about the same size as the dude playing it. Great to see.

And I haven't been to a hotel in years and when I did go I didn't wreck them

And I can't afford cocaine
