Title: Grotesque Bliss (Aus doom death)

Giving this a listen. Maybe a bit on the typical side of things for my tastes these days, but putting aside my grumpy arsed prejudice for a free minutes it's still a quite enjoyable listen. There is a serious lack of decent stuff in Aus these days from what I can see so anything that stirs the evil depths has to be praised.

Interesting name for a band, Grotesque Bliss. Pretty good description of what astfgyl was for some reason offering me in the pet peeves thread last night  :-X

Have seen the name a good bit but never checked them out. That's a cool tune. Will check out the album.

The new album appears to simply be a reissue of the demo with a cover of I Am the Bloody Earth added on. Great choice of cover song.

Never heard of these lads before, but that's hitting all the tingly spots.

I got the CD in the post today. Sounds nice and duurty, and on the somewhat muffled side production-wise, which I'm happy about as it sets it apart from that modern super crunchy sound. The MDB cover is weird. They speed up and slow down throughout, and the parts with the violin melodies are just left blank. Strange that they didn't try to replicate them on guitar. Maybe they hate violin so much they refuse to even play those parts in a more metallised way

Cool album all the same. I think they may have played down this way not so long ago, but hopefully they'll be back down in future, and on a decent bill.
