Title: The Jesus Lizard, Button Factory 15/1/25
Post by: Sworntothecans on June 05, 2024, 05:57:27 PM
Just announced a new album and tour. Heard the last gig was savage so might hit this one up.

They released a new song recently. It's grand, no surprises. The lyrics are fairly shite though.

Couldn't care less about that new song but glad the gig was posted here. Never seen them before, this'll be a treat and reckon it'll probably sell out quickly.

Never listened to them before. That song is cool. Where's a good place to start with them?

Ah I'd take it from the top dude go in sequence.

Head is the first album.

I had a quick blast of the first song on head and it sounds like very early Therapy? I'll have to investigate.

You should give Goat a listen. It's their best followed closely by Liar. The band sound ferocious, with Yow ranting over them like a deranged preacher. It's a perfect album.

I'll get on both of those. Cheers.

I love the jesus lizard, yow is a personal hero, love their sound, way the bass and guitar play off each other as opposed to over each other. Praying they play "Puss" live

Goat and Liar are the way to go for sure. Brilliant band, killer live.

They were an influence on Therapy?if I remember correctly. And I think they may have toured together too.

That's a safe bet.

Greatest rock n roll band on earth. Excited for the new record. Yow is my Elvis.

Amazing news and huge fan, I've not seen em' since the early to mid 90's so I'm beyond excited.

I'm in there somewhere, can't believe it was '94:

For anyone going tomorrow support Stratford Rise were dogshit. There's an idea/talent in there somewhere possibly but shockingly annoying from start to finish.

Glad I got to see Jesus Lizard, unlikely they'd be back I'd imagine . Yow is 65 at this stage. Musicians and sound spot on. Yow as you can imagine was a mess. Went hard on the sauce and looks like a bag of shite. Will be lucky to make it to 70. Seemed to be clear tension between him and sims. A fair few frowns and perplexed looks, and as the set wore on at least two tracks were started quickly to stop David talking shite. None of that is a criticism bizarrely, that's what I wanted/expected from them.

I saw them last night with a different support (Nerves) who didn't do much for me.

Enjoyed the main event a lot - you'd be nearly uncomfortable watching Yow do his thing (in his thong) but he has that unpredictable, unhinged energy even into his sixties. The rest of the band is like clockwork in comparison.

Saw a bit of what you were describing with Sims, but yeah, you'd nearly expect that friction between these precise musicians and a lunatic frontman. Very good show anyway, glad to see them.

Glad to hear the support where shite, never tried harder to land a slot and see it handed to some BIMM heads who'd probably never even heard of the jesus lizard
