Title: Hauntologist - Hollow
Post by: Black Shepherd Carnage on January 10, 2024, 10:55:42 PM
Side project from Darkside and... someone who apparently isn't M despite everything about this sounding like Mgla, albeit if they took a very slightly different direction.

So, long story short, all that means it's good anyway:

Saw it posted a good few times today. Had a 10 second listen and canned it.

Turns out the title track and last two tracks are the least mini-Mgla stuff on there, bit more neo-folk/post-punk-ish.

I listened to one song the other night. Sounded ok but nothing you'd need if you already had some Mgła in the collection.

Skip the 2 first songs and the album develops into a lot more than the MGLA 2.0 that the opening seem to make it sound like.

Very creative album. There's something about that sense of detachment from dense urban environments which is suggested in the artwork that makes it really appealing. The track with the girl's narration sounds really bleak.

Like MGLA, it's not the kind of music I'd sit down and listen to or enjoy it with other people, I need to be walking to enjoy that.
