Title: Demons & Wizards
Post by: Cernunnos on January 14, 2019, 09:23:42 AM
So ive seen a few comments on here from Fans of Blind Guardian. Im a huge fan myself.  Im also a Huge Iced Earth fan , but only up to horror Show.

Anyway any fans here of Demon and Wizards? I loved the first album and second wasn't too bad. Hansi  Singing with Schaffers rhythms is a perfect match.

Anyway  fans will be glad to hear they are touring Europe, ill definitely be hitting a show!

I still spin the first album a lot. I was mad into it at a time when I had a couple of Iced Earth and Blind Guardian albums on the go. The fact that it was available to buy in Virgin in Cork helped a lot with that, so many afternoons lucky dipping on CD's in there and variously coming out with personal classics or beer coasters

Yeah first album has some great tracks on it. wonder with this new tour will they follow up with another album. Still have to pick up "Purgatory" (pre Iced earth) - schaffer released it few months ago.

I did CD/Tape lucky dipping back in the day myself, loved that buzz when you found new band or  another album from a band you loved, happened to me with the old sepultura, had Arise on tape  then week later popped into the local record shop all the other classics from  Morbid Visions to beneath  - like winning the lotto at the time  :o

Think the two albums are great, not much to choose between them really. I'd love to catch a show but they mostly seem to be just having a few warm up gigs around Germany then the festival circuit

Gave the Purgatory release a listen on YouTube, sounds like Iced Earth (as you'd expect) but with a terrible vocalist. Reckon I'll give it miss

Yeah be great to catch them live. I think they are starting with the German and festival gigs. Then the European tour will follow.

Regards purgatory it's probably just for the die hard fans. As he recruited the original line up. I like it as it's  cool to see how he built up the songs and used some of the old song parts for later Iced earth albums i.e. burnt offerings

Didn't know there was a tour being planned, guessing it'll coincide with the new albums release. The last Blind Guardian show in Dublin sold out as far as I remember, and the Iced Earth gigs were pretty full too so hopefully there'd be enough interest to bring it here

yeah i see new album planned for 2020

regards the tour this is the only info i came across :

Iced Earth mastermind Jon Schaffer announced that he will be touring with his other project, Demons & Wizards (part of which is also Blind Guardian's vocalist Hansi Kürsch). The band confirmed couple of club shows prior to summer festival season, when they will be performing all over Europe.

A tour of mostly festivals, meh, I'd prefer to see a third album. The first album is one of my all time favourites.

I'll believe that when I see it, it's only been fourteen years since the last one, and aren't Blind Guardian working on two albums to come out over the next two years? Reckon 2025'll be closer to the actual date for the next D&W.  ;)

Sure Blind Guardian have been working on their orchestral album for something like 15 years too

Schaffer has said they've been writing stuff whenever they've met up over the years, so I'm hopeful the bulk of songs are done and they just need to record and fine tune it

Liking that, nothing drastically different but it works for me. Maybe they could have shaved a minute or so off it, but that's a minor complaint

I was really quite surprised when Blind Guardian sold out the Academy a few years ago ... great crowd great gig ... reading metalireland/metalwarfare i didn't guess there was such interest here. Looks like the same goes for Demons n Wizards.
