3rd - Limelight 2, Belfast
4th - Academy, Dublin
5th - Dolan's Warehouse, Limerick
September
Monday tickets, class
Haven't been able to get excited about an Obituary gig for a long time now and I was never bothered checking out anything after Frozen In Time. May head to the Dublin date but really not sure.
I would've been in the same boat dude - I literally had written them off but got the new album on a whim and my god it's a banger. Seems like that tour with Slayer really rejuvenated them, serious influence on the new record.
Last time I saw them was on the Decibel tour in 2017 or 2018 with Midnight and I left half way through Obituary's set. I must check out the new album but even when I was into them to me they were always a step down from Morbid, Cannibal, Decide, Immo, Incantation etc.
The last time I saw them in Dublin was in Temple Bar when Macabre supported I think that was 2012.
I'd have Cause of Death in top 5 death metal albums.

Yep. Tempted.
Just saw that the Full of Hell and Obituary Belfast shows are being combined because they are taking place on the same day which is cool looks like very early doors as well meaning all bands should still have the same time slots.
I saw this hinted at, but where are you seeing it confirmed?

Limelight have it on their socials, that's a savage lineup

From MCD website. Also saw Sentinel put up on Facebook that they're doing tickets for €31 cash.
Aw man, that's class. Absolutely love Obituary.
Limerick almost sold out........

Anyone have a ticket to the Limerick date for sale?

Just threw up a link there. Hope it helps.
I got sorted. Thanks.
Dublin sold out now and looks like tickets are low for Belfast. I would have expected Belfast to sell out first given how strong the lineup for that show is.

Ah no, I can't recall a single show selling out in Belfast in recent times, there's always tickets available.
1X ticket available for Limerick, Sept 5:

Belfast sold out now as well according to DME.
Sales for everything seem to be through the roof since COVID ended. Really had no idea there was this much demand to see Obituary in Ireland. Think the last 4-5 gigs I've been to in Dublin have all sold out on advance.
Their current album is decent.

Good, because it seems like they're playing a ton of new stuff. I loved their self-titled, but haven't listened to the latest one much. Time to binge it in prep... :abbath:

Resale ticket on ticketmaster website available for Limerick gig (as of 30/8/23 1.20pm)
(Got one for Dublin the other day so they are popping up for sale)
Any word on Obituary stage time for Belfast on Sunday?
Doors: 5.30pm
Jarhead Fertilizer 6.15pm
Antichrist Siege Machine 7pm
Pest Control 7.45pm
Full Of Hell 8.30pm
Obituary 9.20pm
Excellent.
Obituary put me to sleep last night. It really is just death metal by numbers at this stage. So glad I didn't bother with the Dublin show.
Not going to the gig but this festival they just played popped up on my youtube last night, I'm no drummer but it sounds to me like their drummer is struggling to keep up, like really laboured or something.

Any times for Limerick yet? Trying to plan both departure from work and pre-gig pints in Flannery's

I would have thought Obituary would be the last band whose drummer would struggle to keep up.
Watched a bit of a stream of them at some festival lately. Cuntish.
They are giving a lot of praise to the Belfast crowd on FB!
Probably because the crowd was going mad. They were screaming even when Terry Butler first came up on stage to check his bass.
All the money that MCD make and charging £5.50 a pint you would think they could put some sort of air conditioning system in the Limelight 2 I don't know how someone hasn't passed out in that place before the heat is bad enough even when a show isn't sold out.
Hope Limerick is better!
What times is the kickoff for this tonight?
According to the Academy Twitter account:
The Academy Dublin
@academydublin
Stage Times for tonight's SOLD OUT show (subject to change)
Doors - 7pm
Pest Control - 8pm
Obituary - 8:30pm

Sounded pretty good last night. Maybe slightly loose, but pretty tight..
https://youtu.be/j2sGnYYZZd4?si=eaHh7Csl40bGwhuM
Performance and sound absolutely spot on for me, straightforward & consistent - my only issue was the reliance on new material, but it was a tour in support of the new one so I knew what I was in for. Third time seeing them and i think thats me done, unless they pull out a World Demise set or something.
Crowd were loving it, decent pit and plenty of cheers - sunny day and a load of booze no doubt influencing the response. But as always, some real muppets in the crowd - some absolute heure screaming "move" at everyone as she tried to navigate her way though the crowd, lucky i didn't move my elbow into her drinks as she forced her way past... and some other mongo just randomly tapping people on the shoulder and then pretending he didn't . what is wrong with some people?!
So Pest Control get 30 minutes to play, less set-up time for Obituary to start? Has to be something amiss there. Like previous guys, wondering about Limerick stage times so hopefully a better guide after this gig!
The lad tapping people on the shoulder, jesus wept!
Anyone catch the girl trying to carry two pints and spilling a bunch on the sound desk? Sound guy looked like he was about to execute someone.

Obituary started their set at 9pm (till 10pm)
Thanks Malco. See ya next week! :abbath:
Drums sounded huge! "Without a conscience" epic!
Pro: Yes, Obituary, it was good, an hour + 5mins just disappeared. Quite enjoyed it.
Cons: Thought John Tardy was going to collapse more than once! there was one or two times the band were a bit disjointed. What was with John slamming his fist into Ken Andrews Chest (more than once), hopefully he was just over excited by the crowd reaction. I'd say it hurt.

How the fuck does that even happen in The Academy??? Is the desk not basically in a fortress?
Great gig in Limerick tonight 👌 However it still seems strange to open with Redneck Stomp rather than a belter where all memebrs are involved from the off.
Redneck Stomp just seems like it should be a wrap up song where the various players are thanked and the show ends.
Twas only last night I dug into the new album but it was good shit all the same. A sold out show on a Tuesday is mad 👏👏
Place was packed, even upstairs was busy. Obituary were on stage at 8.45 very early I thought. Good gig too.
Dublin gig was class. Set was just over an hour I think, which is a bit short for my liking. Guitars sounded class.
And yeah, John seemed to be shaking your man with excitement a couple of times, looked a bit rougher than it needed to be

Ah, this was limelight 2 in Belfast.
