Fucking class!
Savage, hopefully make it up to that!
Ah fucking deadly!
Have they played here before? If this is in anyways half as decent as Death to All, it will be fucking unreal :abbath:
Great. They toured the US earlier this year and have seen nothing but good reports from the shows. Someone talk to Matt at this about getting Exhumed to play in Dublin.
Nobody ever shows up when Exhumed play Dublin :)
I only ever remember them scheduled to come here once in 2012 I think was it? Did that even go ahead? I had a ticket but either I didn't make it to the show or it was cancelled can't remember which.
Yeah, Exhumed are definitely in that category - plenty ask about them but I remember (Stand to be corrected) it seeming like there was a lot less than 100 at the last show.

They were supposed to play the Voodoo back in Jan 06 but cancelled and Primordial played.
Exhumed played Cork about 7/8 years ago,in Freds,it sold out;so 80 punters?.

they played twice in the last few years in the pint bar. One was an all day event with a good few bands. I'm an exhumed fan boy to be fair though ha ha

A class gig too, The Swarm blew me away.
I've not followed anything about LTD but all reports seem really positive, should be cool.
Irish bands to support this? See Skeletal Remains playing in USA, be cool to see them too
Left to Die have already sold out Whelan's - now moved to Opium Live.Gonna be a cracker methinks!

Zealot Cult + Grave Sermon announced.
Amazing response to this gig isn't it... Whatever you say about it, it really is just a tribute act. I'm seriously considering going
Shame about the new venue Whelans would have been so much better.

Have never been to Opium. That big barrier separating what would normally be DJs from punters a permanent fixture? If so yeah...Whelans seems better for this kind of death mankiness.
Saw Primordial there last year. No issues with the place

It is what the village use to be and it hasn't really changed a whole lot. I have been at plenty gigs in the venue over the years and never liked it. Entrance is right in the middle of the venue so if it is packed like Godflesh was last November it is pretty annoying even trying to just get inside, toilets are right up at the side of the stage so you have to fight your way through the crowd if you need to take a piss and like you said the sound / mixing desk is right in the centre of the floor.
Yeah Whelans is much better. When Opium is packed it's a pain in the hoop trying to get a decent view, to get to the bar or the toilet.

yea, the Opium has a very poor layout. The village had a way better layout if my memory serves correct? The Pint Bar or whatever its called now would be the best spot I think. Love that venue and the layout. Even Voodoo lounge has a better layout and that's saying something
Village was practically the same.
Sure fuck it. The fact that I normally hate crowds is probably part of the reason I love live metal so much. You'd expect so much bouncing around - especially at a gig like this - that I never feel bad moving in and out of people to go take a piss and get a pint.
The 3 Arena is the worst for it. Worse than any big outdoor show. Something about that place just makes people protect their spots like fucking mad. Always feels weirdly tense up front for a lot of shows.
I think the only real change from the Village is the mixing desk being in the middle of the floor or was that always there? I seem remember it being up the back somewhere.
I have never been upstairs in the village is that open to everyone like the upstairs in the Academy or is it closed off and only for bands / staff etc.
Not surprised this show is selling well sure didn't both DTA tours a few years ago sell out the Academy. Those shows were great even the fact that they managed to find a vocalist who looked exactly like Chuck
Ack, I see it sold out 2 weeks ago. I'm a bit late to be looking into it I guess!

Couple gone up on Ticketmaster a few minutes ago! Just seen it on DME's socials.
Going to put my ticket up on Ticketmaster in a minute. Absolutely gutted to have got covid.
As you can probably tell from my username, I am a bit of a fan!
What's the best spot to park around Opium? I got parking nearby for the decapitated gig last year but it was a 2hr max stay ended up having to move the fucking thing halfway through the gig whatever way things worked out.
Parking on a Sunday is a free for all for most places, as far as I know.
??? Great! If that is the case happy days!
I'd say just make sure cause some may have specific hours.
A lot of the streets around there are 24/7 pay parking. The Stephens Green car park is a 5 minute walk away.
Stephen's Green car park is €12 when you enter ater 5 and pay on arrival this covers you to 3 am
Craic with times for this?

Doors 7
Grave Sermon 7.30
Zealot Cult 8.15

Does exactly what it says on the tin type gig. Left to Die was a mess of a pit from the off. Grave Sermon I wasn't familiar with but really, really enjoyed. Great vocals. Zealot Cult to be honest I've never buzzed off but they sounded great. Maybe sounded the best of the three bands playing. Went upstairs to get a bit of breathing space during it and they were still giant.
Haven't been to the venue in years, have to hand it to them to sticking to the worst layout ever for a venue.
Left to die sounded amazing, really enjoyed it.
Only arrived for LTD, thought they were class, Open Casket a real highlight. Venue was wedged, layout is terrible alright which is a shame cause it's a great stage. Lot of muppets about and never saw so many lads in their late 40s snapping selfies and recording videos nobody will ever want to watch.
I don't get it. Piss easy to walk around. Everyone up for the same craic. Fuck it.
Ah the spazz brigade were indeed out in force for this. Couple of fights nearly broke out on the floor and the same two arseholes getting up on stage all night, security seemed light?
Gig itself was excellent, what a treat hearing those songs being played with such authenticity
Support were great too! All in all bang for buck.
And speaking of which - Parking was free in most places in and around the venue!
Timeless songs played with energy and respect, LTD were fucking superb, I really enjoyed that.
As mentioned above, an unusual amount of mongos about, for some reason. Middle-aged and older lads spending most of the gig on their phones, either taking selfies (genuinely) or recording shit videos, and a couple of tough guys taking the night off from being great dads, it was a strange oul vibe.
Still, the music was fucking superb.
 sounds like a few lads were let out for their first post covid gig!.A trip down memory lane pushed these lads over the top into knuckle dragging territory!
Would loved to have hit this!,clips on social media look class!
Quotesounds like a few lads were let out for their first post covid gig!.A trip down memory lane pushed these lads over the top into knuckle dragging territory!
I think there's the pandemic aspect and maybe the age profile too. Also you might be giving these individuals too much credit, most of them looked like extras from The Hills Have Eyes

It was a similar kind of crowd at Godflesh in November lads over 40 taking video of the performance non stop blocking other people's views.
Wasn't bothered with the support so coming into a sold out village and trying to get a good spot for the headline band is always enjoyable. The band were great surprised Matt didn't say much about his Death inspired band Gruesome. I doubt many last night would even be aware of them but most would like it.
I see the Death to All band is back touring again are currently playing shows in North America. It would be great to see them back here again at some stage.
The live clips do look savage.
Was it a mosh thing or "don't push me cos I'll bate the head off you"situation?
There was a fair amount of moshing up front but it's just... there's something really unsettling about seeing grown men the same age as you, and older, going to great efforts with their backs to the stage trying to take pictures of themselves showing how Metal they are... to themselves.
Ah jaysus fair enough, sounds like I was lucky missing the ne'er do wells then.
Sounds like your classic case of having all day Sunday to drink more than you can handle.
That sounds terribly embarrassing.
Still the DME clips look great. I've never listened to Gruesome as I thought it a rip off thing.
It seems more like a passion project from what I gather now.
Great night last night, Left to Die were spot on. Great to see a sell out death metal gig and loads of people enjoying themselves
Hey! Less of the abuse of us 40 year olds!! ;D
I get really irritated when people around me are holding their phones up during gigs, thankfully I didn't see many at it last night.
Nothing wrong with the layout, unless you're standing around the corner at the bar. As somebody already mentioned it's piss easy to get about.
Didn't see any dickhead activity either, apart from that muscle head getting booed when he was standing on stage like a mong. The stage dive didn't go to well for him, you'd have to be fairly off your head to think that diving into a crowd of people booing you is a good idea.
My first time seeing Zealot Cult, thought they were great. I think the vocalist's guitar could have been a bit louder. Left to Die were unreal, class night!
Incredible gig. My two favourite Death albums along with Human so this was a perfect opportunity to hear all the classics in a live setting as if it was 1988 all over again. Incredible decency from all band members to pose for photos and sign autographs as soon as it ended. Worth the admission price for Denial of Life, Open Casket and Evil Dead alone. Looking forward to Cancer paying due homage to their debut and somophore magna opera with as much panache we witnessed last night. Thanks to all concerned for an amazing night. One to savour for a long time to come.
