Odd venue in Dublin. Haven't really listened to Trivium at all since Shogun so will  need to check out newer albums but picked up a ticket this morning as it's a Saturday evening in Dublin.

Odd venue alright, but it's only a 10 minute walk from my gaf so I'd be delighted if more gigs get put on there. Quite like a few of their albums but haven't listened to them in years, probably pick up a ticket though

They're the kind of band who reneged on their own promises of ambition but realistically are about the right size now they were always destined to be. They're tight as fuck live and their crowds always have decent pits and energy so might be one to check out alright.

Got a ticket, now they best keep the Shogun title track in their set. :abbath:

I loved The Crusade and Shogun, thought In Waves was kinda mediocre, Vengeance Falls sounded like a Disturbed album, and then completely lost interest.

Still, I picked up a ticket to this. It seems their last three albums have been very well received.

Crazily, Heafy is still only 36! Seems mental that he was 22 when I saw them at the Mandela Hall.

Should be a great gig, haven't seen them since they headlined the Ambassador.Lost interest around Shogun but their last 3 albums pulled me back in and have probably been their strongest since Ascendancy!

Also never been to The Helix so interested in checking it out, seems like a ball ache to get to!

Anyone seen any Stage times for this? I'll be heading late to gig and guessing it's 9pm for Trivium?

20:00-20:30 Malevolence
21:00-22:30 Trivium

According to Paolo on the twitter anyway.

Made it for the end of Malevolence, they were decent.

Thought Trivium were deadly to be honest, nice mix of old and new songs. I was standing just to the right of the sound desk and sound was decent with a couple of exceptions.

First time in The Helix and not sure of it as a venue. Looks great but some amount of queues it seemed. Plus only one working ticket machine in the carpark after.

Also it looked like they were charging €40 a short sleeve t-shirt? I was standing the other side of the stairs so hope I'm wrong as that's extortionate money. I couldn't afford it so didn't bother joining the queue when I saw that!

Was surprised this was put in the helix, used to work there and the place is amateur, most of the stuff on in there would be small theatre productions, pantos that short of shite.

With a bigger gig like this MCD would be coming in and taking over anyway so it's not that big of a deal, but the logistics of the place and even the layout is a pain so I hope gigs I'm actually interested in don't start happening there lol.

Just saw a clip online of Heafy wearing a white sleeveless Trivium shirt and bright orange shoes bouncing around the place. Call me whatever but he can go fuck himself.

I don't get you. Would you be less upset if his shoes were black and his shoulders were covered!?

He looked like he was in a boy band.

I thought it was good too, they were very tight and the production was good, never really bothered trying to listen to the new albums but enjoyed the new stuff all the same as well as the songs from Shogun and Ascendancy.

I agree that Matt Heafy must be stopped though The Wild Rover was unforgiveable for me.

Ha yeah The Wild Rover was cringy but I thought he was decent with his crowd interactions keeping the pit going.

Couldn't care less what he looks like considering every second person walking down the road these days has a metal t-shirt...he looks like 80% of the under 40s population

Still 9PM tonight?

Edit: Twas indeed, although shame the guitars didn't show up until about 10PM. After they turned them up, it was killer.

Glad they played Shogun. I loved that album back in the day, and was disappointed when they skipped the song in 2008.
