It gives the option of posting out a ticket, or at least it did when I was buying. Costs more (of course it does) but if you really wanted a physical ticket...

Change of venue, to Opium on Wexford St.

Never been there (or even heard of the place TBH), is it bigger or smaller? I can only assume it's bigger, I'd imagine the demand for this is high.

Edit: was that the Mean Fiddler/Village in years past?

Scored tickets for this lately. Fucking delighted to the extent I paid the extra for the physical tickets so I can keep the stubs. Got em delivered in about 3 days as well.

I am but you knew that.  I don't know if a lot of MW lads here are going that you'd know but there's a good few of us heading up from Limerick by the looks of it.  Thank fuck for the grewn bus.  I was looking for lockers in town I could store my cans in until the way home but such a thing doesn't exist.

They played Damnation on the weekend but doesn't seem like it's part of anything wider. They were a late addition to Damnation too, I think MDB or someone pulled out and they did a Streetcleaner set with maybe 4-6 weeks notice.

Whelan's next door is probably the handiest. I haven't been in it since the late '90s so I couldn't tell you whether it's a decent spot these days or not, Cassidy's across the road also used to be OK.

Just saw this, sorry, I was the fat guy in the Kraftwerk T-shirt.

No merch, odd that. I took cash out if the machine for it an' all.

Deadly gig though, intense. Loud as fuck for just two lads, it was almost psychedelic once I let it just wash over me.

Support were alright, yer man's vocals were a bit screamo but I'd give them a listen.

Great gig

Sound was fairly immense last night

I was well impressed with G. C. Green's bass sound - fairly hammering
Justin was in flying form

It was my first time in Opium - a nice tidy venue

The setlist was spot on

Love Is a Dog From Hell
Shut Me Down
Post Self
Pulp
Streetcleaner
Veins
Weak Flesh
Like Rats
Predominance
Crush My Soul

Monotremata

Great setlist alright. A playlist of those songs comes in at just over an hour, but I reckon you could add 10-15 mins.' worth of feedback to that for last night.

Post by: mickO))) on November 12, 2022, 12:53:01 PM
Godflesh were great all right that good I am strongly considering going to tonights show. I forgot as well how much heavier the songs sound live than on CD.

Surprised to see all the positive comments about the village for me it has always been the worst venue in Dublin. Whoever designed the layout should be shot. Entrance right in the middle of the venue so if it's packed like last night even getting in through the door is a challenge and toilets up at the front of the stage so unless you wanna fight your way through the crowd no piss.

Phones at gigs never bothered me too much but last night some fella near the entrance had his phone up every two minutes taking videos fuck off. Fair enough if someone wants to take 1 or 2 videos during the show but not every 2 mins and the same guy also had a bag on his bag which is always great for other people in a packed venue didn't have the courtesy to check it in.

Yes no merch was the same for the Exploited shows back in September. Does the band even have its own merch though I never them selling items online personally so maybe just gets handled by the label which would mean unless they are on a tour they won't have anything.

Where you standing near the entrance and you started getting all excited when they played Streetcleaner? I think I saw you.

Crowd wise that is one of the oldest crowds I have ever seen at a show and the least amount of people wearing bands shirts. Most people looked they were ready to head to the nightclub afterwards. Everyone seemed to be really into Godflesh.

Every show I have been to this year with the exception of one has had great turnouts. I wonder is this because of what went on over the last two years or is live music of this type finally popular again in Ireland.

Fair few moustaches at it alright, but every head was bobbing for most of it. They're such an odd band that they don't just draw a metal crowd, I suppose. I'd imagine a lot of hippety-hop heads would be into them, given that their beats have always had that edge to them. Saw a Dälek T-shirt or two there last night, for instance.

What's the capacity of the venue, couldn't have been more than about 500- 600 in it?

I hadn't planned on going to this because I was only familiar with Streetcleaner. Had recently listened to Pure a couple of times and randomly remembered about the gig last night.

Ended up listening to the setlist a few times in preparation and buying a ticket. Glad I did - tremendous live sound.

Still not right after this.  Amazing gig, ridiculously heavy, great crowd, excellent set, savage sound.  Zero complaints.  Can't wait to see them again if I get the chance.  I got incredibly drunk and sprained my ankle running from Ryan's next door after the gig to make the bus to Limerick on time.

Absolutely delighted to finally see one of my favourites, after over two decades of listening to them.

I was right at his feet for the whole set, absolutely cruel bass tone, it was class.  All he had on stage for it pedal wise was a HM2 and a tuner.

Talked to JKB for about 30 secs after the set, he seemed like he enjoyed himself.

Savage gig, 10+ years since I last saw Godflesh. Real testament to it's not what you play it's how you play it. Sounded like the end of the world.
