Picking my favourite albums of the year really hammers home just how little new music I listen to. I expect to still be finding my favourite music of the past year until 2023. As such, maybe a thread where people can post what they know to be coming in 2022 would be handy, what to keep an eye out for etc.
I'll start, looking forward to Blood Incantation's ambient album, will likely alienate (no pun intended) some fans but seems like a natural move to me.
Also Furis Ignis, a traditional black metal project coming out on Iron Bonehead this month sounds good so far.
And that's it, genuinely no clue what's expected to come out.
Two new Zemial albums should be on the way.
New Devin Townsend, Persefone and Ne Obliviscaris would be what I'm most looking forward to that's been confirmed, Blind Guardian supposedly going to have something near the end of the year
And the annual hope that this might be the year King Diamond finally releases The Institute
That Hoverkraft stuff Riedl has been doing is great so high hopes for the BI ambient album. Definitely an interesting move, makes total sense too.
Voivod have a new one out next month, hoping for a new YOB record this year too.
New Sigh will be out this year, I liked Heir to Despair and am interested to see what direction they take the new one.
Falls of Rauros' new album will be released in March, very excited for this one.
Just found out there's a new Véhémence due in March
https://antiqofficial.bandcamp.com/album/ordalies
Looking forward to hearing more of this solely based on their 2019 release.
Also just spotted Konvent also due to release a new album in March, must check that out in due course.
Transcending Obscurity keep teasing of a new Abaddon Incarnate release with their yearly label sampler so hopefully there'll be news on that later this year.
Need to give Vehemence more time. Konvent are class. I am forever rueful that they enquired about artwork for their debut back when they were a demo band, and I was a fan. I was thrilled, said yes, but in the intervening 6 or so months they were picked up Napalm and whoosh, they were gone.
Definitely give Véhémence more time, I really get a lot out of that album. Mind you it got me from the start but I definitely got into it more. The previous one isn't my thing at all though, so touch and go for the next one!
That's mad but gutting re your near miss with Konvent! Any link to your work that intrigued them so? Sound.
Deathcult (Switzerland) have a new album, their second, coming out at the end of the month on Invictus.
The first album, Beasts of Faith, is a fucking ripper and, going by the two tracks off it I heard, the new one is every bit as good.
Looking forward to that Konvent.
Wiegedood and Mizmor both have new ones out today, an album and EP, respectively. Both recent discoveries for me, I'll give each a spin or two anyway.

The new Deathcult sounds great so far, never really gave Beasts of Faith more than a couple of plays on bandcamp, sounds like I was missing out.
Heltekvad, medieval black metal from Denmark have an album out in March (same day as Falls of Rauros). One song is up for streaming now, has been on repeat all day for me.

Jeez some nice work there in fairness, thanks for sharing. I can see what attracted Konvent as it's similar to what they use anyway. Some steady hands in the recent video, and saw the local St. Finbarr's as well!
Just found out Undeath have a new album due out in April. Looking forward to some more mighty death metal riffs :-*

Didn't realize this was a thing! Cool.
Godflesh
Cave In
Sumac
Meshuggah
Porcupine Tree
I know there's a good few more I saw lately and tried (and failed) to keep in mind. Looking forwarx to most of the above, maybe Meshuggah the least - wasn't gone on their last album.
Not in any league with the above, but we'll have two Third Island releases this year at least, an EP and a single (all new stuff), but it'll be later in the year I imagine.
New release from The Spirit should be good... Blood Incantation too...

I've been waiting for news from Ván Records since August for news of Daeth Daemon's first album, Span of Aeons. Can't wait for more of this https://daethdaemon.bandcamp.com/album/the-skeleton-spectre
They got test pressings back in November so hopefully news soon.

Was listening to that this afternoon. Pure class..
The two new immolation tracks are sounding v good, was skeptical about the 15 tracks when it was first announced but looking forward to it. Album art is sick too. Can't be that many bands putting out such consistent material this many albums into a career
Here's the new Kreator track - nothing new for them but thrashy and pretty cool!

The Forbidden Temple debut album should be out soon. Looking forward to it.
Just saw Mystic Circle has released a new album. Can't kill a bad thing.
I remember seeing them a long time ago supporting someone- Cannibal Corpse maybe? I thought they were shite at the time but I haven't heard a note of their music since and who knows, maybe I'd like them now.
They use to be the support for every second band that came to Dublin back in 00's. I think I remember seeing with Marduk on the Plague Angel tour in Whelans.
Worm and Dream Unending should both have new releases out this year, according to 20BS. I liked worm in particular but in truth have yet to give them both the full go.
It's it the same worm that released foreverglad, it's not long from that last rec, but I'll happily take more.
By the looks of it haunter will be releasing new music this year too.
I did see two dates of an EU tour with them suffering hour and cryptic shift announced with more tba. If that comes with a Ryanair's flight of me it will be some line up

As mentioned above, they supported everyone. Give it a go but they were cuntish.
Be interested in more Dream Unending. That album was great.
Yeah I remember thinking they were incredibly cheesy and low quality, but you never know.
New Cult of Luna going online in half an hour
New Vanum album will be out April. Very much looking forward to that, loved Ageless Fire.

Darvaza debut is out tomorrow.
Was bored to death listening to it. I love the EPs but found the album riffs quite generic. The hype over it didn't help it either, expectations were sky high and some people simply want to validate their wait. So far, I find it an OK album at best.
The new WATAIN coming up is deadly, not just a rehash of Casus Luciferi. New Acherontas is killer too, and there's a new Mortuary Drape EP out but I haven't listened to it yet.
Looking forward to the new Negative Plane in May.
Darvaza have always had generic riffs.

I listened to the download maybe three times the day it went on sale and wasn't blown away haven't listened to it since but the LP showed up today and they have finally included lyrics so I will try to get stuck into it now. The 2 MLPs and the 7" are great. The included bible page with the LP is not what I was expecting.
Ah that's a shame about Darvaza album, i like the EPs too so will wait to listen when the vinyl arrives and hopefully its a grower.
New Midnight has just gone up
Another new Abbath track, sounds great, very Bathory sounding.

I really hope this new Death Breath album sees the light of day this year. They announced they were going to release a new single last year on Electric Assault records and then went quiet.
Is that a thing, first I've heard of it. Good news!

Reminds me of my 10 year old being stuck composing sentences with words they're given for homework. Somehow he was stuck with the last two words he had. I asked them what they were so I could help -I had to ask him to repeat them when I heard "death, breath" 😂
Let It Stink was promptly produced so he managed to cover both words in one sentence. His sister then wanted to put it up on their class seesaw page. I ensured the album title was hidden from the photo of the CD in case kids checked it out and started roaring the lyrics to "Giving Head to the Dead" at school 😅
I'm looking forward to checking out the new Nightfell release tomorrow. No news on it from 20 Buck Spin so I'm presuming they're on a new label?

Ha, what are the chances.
I actually just picked up Nightfell's 'A Sanity Deranged' last week. Just gave it one spin so far. I get the impression it passed a lot of people by, so wouldn't be totally surprised if they weren't on 20 Buck Spin anymore.
I love "A Sanity Deranged", definitely give it a chance to grow on ya. It's a shame if it passed a lot of people by.
Cool, will definitely give it a few more spins.
New Predatory Light teased by 20 Buck Spin. I didn't even know the two were involved, that label really hoovers up a lot of good stuff. Excited anyway, the PL LP is superb.

Only recently discovered them and dig the hell out of their last album "Vanished Cadavers", so loking forward to this being a belter as well hopefully 🤞🏻
New Sedimentum has me all in a tizzy. I know we've been dosed with old school DM over the past few years but this sounds like it could be very good.
https://youtu.be/6SGwMv8vadk
Third album from Inexorum is coming out 17th of June. I think they are underrated. Melodic black metal in the vein of Sacramentum, maybe Dissection, but with an American sort of atmospheric, anthemic vibe to it. Essentially just loads of big, memorable and catchy riffs. I recommend dipping into the first two.

Just clicked on them as it said grindcore, but on listening I heard something that makes a lot more sense when reading who's in the band afterwards!
I was only thinking of the vocalist a few weeks back wondering what he's been up to - love the power and style of his vocals.
The new Toxik album is out later this week. Finally.
Sweet. Breaking Class was... class.
New Faceless Burial teaser floating around. yes please. Shove it straight into my ears.
Also I see we're finally getting the debut Unyielding Love album "The Chinese Democracy" this year. Very exciting.

Roy behind the label hasn't exactly got a good reputation and his shipping prices are insane. Even with shipping he has some bullshit system where he only posts twice a month and only limited number of packages a month. If you ordered the CD today it might not ship until December or later
