Amorphis - Quuen of Time
I can't remember if I posted about this on MI. This is a great album, the first I'd given any time to, despite knowing the name for donkeys years. QoT has a great balance of clean/heavy vox, great technical playing while keeping plenty of hooks. It doesn't veer too far into the proggier side. In fact I think they get it just right.
I assume the earlier stuff is more traditional death/doom but do they have gothier elements throughout? Looking for that kind of fix, more so then traditional death/doom.
If you liked QoT you should like any of their last few albums. They're all pretty similar, but that's not a bad thing because they keep the quality high
Maybe go with Under the Red Cloud next and just keep working backwards
It's great. Red Cloud maybe shades it slightly but both are incredibly good albums. Amazing how they keep the quality so high.
