FFO: Korn, Slipknot, Knocked Loose

Enjoy (or don't!)
Clicked out of morbid curiosity as I found the band name and nuCore title comical. Nothing funny about that though. It's just shit.
Earache? Fuckin hell.

Was wondering who'd be first, you or McLove haha

I get that you don't like that style of music, as most here don't. But how is it shit?
Yep, these boys have heard Korn and Slipknot before, that's obvious, but not a crime.
I listened to the tune there without watching the video and I'll say that it's bang on the nail and perfectly executed for what it is.
The drumming is class. The riffing is there, nice and crunchy. The vocals are great too.
I've saved the video for later to watch again with my better half as I know she'll like it too.
I was never a fan of Korn (meaning I never got into listening to them much) but I had great respect for them after their support slot with Slipknot a lock a years ago in the Three Arena.
This tune, it's a thumbs up from me.... :abbath:
How is it shit?! Where do I start? The lumpen, clichéd nu-metal riffs, the horrible over-produced sound, the shitty bleeps, farts and turntable scratches that were already old in 98...the spasticated hipster vocalist with his fucking "wacky" tank top and affected mannerisms. It's just fucking shit. It's no wonder these lads are being championed by Metal Hammer as they are right up their alley of shit.

I think we can all agree Earache are cunts, and need to give us back the first 4 Decapitated albums (and a whole lot of other legendary bands who have been completely shafted)
That's even fucking worse, the vocals are extra retarded, the absolute state of the drum sound, and the video looks like something that Coal Chamber shat out.

Pretty much the lynchpin of all metal and punk. Big hairy angry fellas roaring about vikings, or satan? That seems pretty affected.

Honestly, I posted this in the hope of mustering up this old vanguard vitriol :-*
The Coal Chamber vibe is gas for sure
Singer sounds like he's doing an impression of Greg Puciato from Dillinger Escape Plan, who pretty much lifted his whole thing from Mike Patton.

I guess I'm referring to the whole "feigning a nervous breakdown" affectation that seems so beloved of nu-metal vocalists. It might have been somewhat original when the lad from Korn first did that shtick, but even then, it was very much lifted from Mike Patton.
As noted above
So it's not a thread about south west Dublin travellers then? Oh right.
I'm sure I'd have thought it was ok as a teenager and there is nothing new with retro shenanigans in the world of metal. It's a bit frightening to think that nu metal is now old enough to be considered retro... I have no interest in that stuff and haven't listened to it in over 20 years but it sounds no more or less offensive to me than most modern sounding metal. That said, I lasted all of about a minute before turning it off. If it gets young people in the door and some of them dive into better stuff then job done. I watched that Slipknot documentary on BBC4 recently. I had begun getting more fascinated by underground stuff around the time they emerged so they passed me by a bit but I could see the appeal while watching that show. Their couple of musical tricks became clear pretty quickly though, and the song above is similar in that sense. Kinda rage-y, rhythmical and easy to sing along to. It's a winning formula for success, if all a bit surface level.

I clicked in presuming that the only reason a 'nucore' band would be posted here was if they were actually linked to Tallaght in some way. Disappointed :(

This live video is savage man! Some incredible stage presence and energy they have. Sheer perfection in the execution.
Glad I've made ye a fan of them, we'll have to start an Irish Tallah Fan group
After one 5 second search, it appears the drummers old man is Mike Portnoy. Might explain they're apparent success.
There's a market for absolutely everything these days. I'm sure there's plenty of lads still walking around wearing New Rocks and wallet chains in Moat, Westport and Tralee that would snap this up in a heartbeat. And then I'm seeing plenty young people starting to wear flared jeans, hippier looking stuff, it'll all be back soon.
Don't get the appeal myself but it's welll produced, the videos are professional, they certainly don't look like a bunch of lads that just walked in off the street, they tick all the basic boxes for 'success'.
Billy Corgan and Lars had a really interesting conversation about modern listeners. They didn't grow up in a 'scene' and they'd listen to Sabbath alongside stuff from the 90's, 00's and recent stuff and pay no attention to the distinctions. Now we can take that whatever way we want, but that's how younger people are listening to stuff now. There's no reason why a band like that can't sell plenty of merch, have loads of followers on Instagram, and whatever else this new click culture approach to music offers them..I see the vocalist does videos.on how to.sing like him on youtube etc.
Hard to get my head around what exactly these listeners want because I'm from the 'buy a cassette and imagine your band' generation. We filled.in all the details with rumours, tiny snippets of information we might read in a magazine and often taking lyrics literally. I remember being really young being convinced by people that Axl Rose actually had done some of the things he sang about. Seeing images of Glen Benton's forehead when I was around 11..mindblowing, what the hell was that guy into? So, a whole different way of seeing it all.

I remember when I was getting into music and myself and a friend of mine wondering if Tico Torres was actually a hitman because he was credited as Tico The Hitman Torres on the New Jersey cassette inlay. This was back when we believed Jon Bon Jovi was the coolest man on the planet.
RIP Bon :'(
Aw man. I'd only just got over his untimely passing and now you've brought it up again... :'(
Love the belly top.
March 22nd: Tallah to launch downtuned, zany, angst ridden, wack out version of 'It's my life' combined with world's first 'virtual' mosh pit including tens, if not hundreds of fans jumping about in front of their computer screens to celebrate one year since Bon's passing.
Fuuuuuuuuuuck yeaaaaaahhhhhhhhh Brrrrooootherrrrrs..... :abbath:
Class....

Wouldn't go out of my way to listen to them, but they do look entertaining live, so I'd prob watch them at a festival if I was off me tits and there was nobody else on at the same time that I wanted to see.
Which, now that I think of it, is exactly how I feel about Rammstein.
