New album out today. Really stepped it up a notch on this I think.

Also on Spotify etc.

We have a split LP coming out with these boyos in a few months.

Only listened to a bit of it there but will go back for a proper go later. The atmosphere of some of those guitar parts sound great.

The balance seems right here between the riffs being off-kilter and warped while actually making some sort of sense. I like the guitar production too. It's clear and a little spacey sounding to me. Maybe a hint of VBE and a touch of Howls of Ebb in the mix? You could mention Svartidauđi too without being wildly off the mark,  but the end result sounds different. They seem to hang more on this side of the dissonant line which keeps the songs feeling more direct.

I have to say, though, I really hate that artwork. I've seen a few of that guy's pieces and it's hard to pinpoint exactly why it doesn't work. There's a lot of detail and technicality in his drawings but the end result always looks lifeless to me.

There is certainly a feeling of cohesive songs which is hard enough done in that warpy style. I think there is a lot more to grab onto than the last Svartidaudi which I admitedly didn't give a lot of time.

I'm impartial towards the artwork but I like that they repeated the design style of the first album.

This isn't quite doing it for me yet.

I loved 'In Passing Ascension' and found it quite immediate, so it's puzzling me a little why this isn't hitting the spot. Just need more listens I suppose. Seeing them play most of 'In Passing...' a couple of years ago was a real treat, they definitely have their shit together as a live band.

Have to say, the artwork is pretty gack. For a band with a cool logo and who put a good bit of effort into how they look, they really choose something indistinct.
