Sad news from the Bolzer camp (statement below) - we wish Fabian all the best in his recovery as this is of course the most important thing and the band will be very welcome back to Ireland at another time. Thankfully The Ruins Of Beverast will still play (doing a slightly longer set) and support will be Death The Leveller in Dublin & Zealot Cult in Limerick. Thanks to both bands for jumping in at short notice.
Anybody with presale tickets from Ticketmaster will be contacted by them and refunded €5. Anyone with tickets from tickets.ie or Sound Cellar will receive €5 cash as they enter on the night. Remaining tickets are available from both outlets now for €20.
We truly hope you'll all still come out as The Ruins Of Beverast are very much looking forward to their Irish return.
Statement from Bolzer:"I am sad to announce that I won't be able to perform our scheduled shows in Ireland – Dublin: Fr. 18 Mar 2022– Limerick: Sa. 19 Mar 2022I was recently diagnosed with Miller-Fisher Syndrome and am currently at a rehabilitation clinic, where I have to stay for a few more weeks. My current symptoms include double vision as well as facial paralysis. I deeply apologise for any inconvenience caused by this. We were really looking forward to returning to Ireland and playing these shows. We promise to make it up to you as soon as possible!Thank you for your understanding.Kind regards, Fabian ,,HzR" Wyrsch

Wow! Nice one!
UNREAL
Yip! Yip! Yip!
The Grand Social too. Sweet..... :abbath:
Alas, I'm emigrating this year so I'll miss it. I've seen both bands a few times and they are both forces to be reckoned with in the live arena. It's one I'd otherwise have prioritized.

Sure you can pop back over for it.
Sure gigs will all be virtual from now on. The jam packed crowd of twenty people will all be standing in their separate cubicles, drinking pints of hand sanitizer and watching the music through safety goggles as it projects onto a screen, while the bands play their sets in hermetically sealed closets in Switzerland and Germany. I'll hold out for the DVD!
Off to Oz, sham?
Yup. Ireland's loss will be Australia's loss.
Grand to be heading off to sunnier climes.
Moving in with Brian Warner..

Tickets ordered for Limerick. This should be a class night.

Are you selling your collection?
No.
I had to ask !

Reminded me of this:

I saw the Australia post last night and circled like a vulture knowing the answer would be NO but imagine the treasures on offer if it was put up for sale.
You should film the process of prepping it for shipping/storage. A lot of bubble wrap.
Anyway back to the gig. Bölzer will bring the power.
Can anyone recommend a place to stay in Limerick for the show on March 19th? The Clayton hotel is over €300 that night and the Limerick city hotel says nothing is available. I guess with this being Paddys weekend it is going to make finding decently priced accommodation very difficult.
Given the weekend it's on and the extra bank holiday on top of it, I reckon it's gonna be slim pickings. I booked the LCH when the gig was announced but if I'd twigged the date before buying the ticket I'd have skipped it.
Airbnb might be worth a look, a mate did well out of them last time he was staying in Limerick.
Is this definitely going ahead? Will hit The Grand Social if so. Class venue...
Yes, going ahead.
Happy days, tickets bought. Looking forward to seeing Bölzer again and haven't caught TROB before so looking forward to rectifying that..

Yeah will try that. Pain in the bollox.
Are these co-headlining shows and both acts will get the same stage time? Happy to see Bolzer again but Ruins is what I want. Wasn't as into them as I am now the first time they played here in 2014.
Not looking good for Bolzer playing here. Doubt he will recover from these symptoms in time. Especially being the drummer.
"With a heavy heart I have to inform you that I won't be able to perform this coming Saturday at ,,In Theatrum Demonium" at Théâtre de Denain.
I'm currently at the hospital, where I've been diagnosed with Miller-Fisher-Syndrome. My symptoms include double vision, partial face paralysis, numbness in my hands and feet, as well as heavy motion sickness and headache. This is linked to a Covid infection I've had a few weeks ago, after which I felt fine and cured and got caught completely off guard by these heavy symptoms.
I'm very sorry for this bad news.
We were really looking forward to this extraordinary event and we hope that we get the chance to redeem this in the future.
Thank you for your understanding and kind regards,
Fabian ,,HzR" Wyrsch / BLZR"
Jesus that sounds rough. All the best to the man in his recovery.
Fuck that's nasty. I'm not too worried about the gigs when you know what he's going through. Hope he recovers ok in due course 🤞🏻
Aye, as much as I've been looking forward to it (my first gig since Nov. '19) I'd hope he got himself well in the meantime.
Yes, his health is the most important thing here.
Hopefully he will make a good recovery and the tour can be rescheduled for another time, hopefully this year..
Looks like the prognosis for this syndrome is good. 6 month full recovery and a very rare chance of relapse. So fingers crossed he comes out 100% with no lasting effects.
I wont know until closer to the date but im hoping to hit Limerick, only really familiar with Bolzer, and mainly Hero at that.Id imagine theyll get a replacement drummer for the tour?.
Really need to check out more of TROB.

Doubt that, there's only two in the band, Fabian and Okoi...

Not looking good so.
I assume Ruins will still be playing if Bolzer can't make it? I really hope so been looking forward to this for a while now.
Ruins will 100% play, yes. Waiting on an update from Bolzer.

Any update on the gig
I'm not expecting Bölzer to be playing this, so will it just be Ruins or will there be another act filling in, be they local or whatever..?

Sucks but no surprise there - Death the Leveler are a good band at least.
.
Disappointing about Bolzer but happy enough with a longer Ruins set. Be great if they did different sets on each night but I doubt that will happen.
What are stage times?
Not sure I'll make this, even though wouldn't mind seeing Ruins
How do refunds work, & when is the cut-off to request one?
Is there parking around Dolans ?
There's parking at the front and at the side up Alphonsus St but that can be a bit dodge further up the hill
ROB on at 9.45 approx according to FB event page. Not sure about Zealot cult but doors at 8 afaik
Sound ,will try get a spot in front somewhere .
Just back home from this. Great gig and a decent attendance...
Just caught half of Death The Leveller's set. Those last two tunes they played hit the spot.
Ruins were absolutely class. Great set and some wall of sound when they got going.
Back to the Big Smoke again on Wednesday for Wardruna. Great to have live music back again, been two years since my last gig...
Great gig and what a great band to come back too. First time in that venue sound wasn't the best but still enjoyable. Really enjoyed Ruins looking forward to see them again tonight. The merch was disappointing they only had one shirt with them.
And was great to see the place packed for a band like Ruins. Was a lot more people there than I was expecting.

Yep, that marquee roof overhead doesn't help I suppose. The first 3 songs had the vocals swallowed up and that kicked in again in the last couple of tunes but it could've been worse.
Yeah, the merch was a bit wanting alright. I got a Ruins t-shirt for the missus and grabbed the Ruins/Almyrkvi split LP for €15,bargain. Beautifully packaged, I'd love the t-shirt of it...
I went to get The Thule Grimoires LP but he was sold out when I went to purchase near the end of the set. You think they'd have plenty of stock of the latest album on the tour fir christ sakes.. :-X
How did the Dolan's show go?
Wasn't a tour though and it was Sentinel that brought the lps in for them as far as I know. You can be sure they'll be well stocked for the GM tour starting this week.
Aha, hopefully will catch them again soon enough anyway.
It was my better half's first ever metal gig and she was floored at how trance like the sound was. She's dying to see Ruins again or something similar...
Dublin gig was fun. It's been so long since I was at the Grand Social that I have forgotten how much of a trek it is to get from the main pub to the venue. Seemed to be a lot of women at it which was good to see.

How did the Dolan's show go?
Was great sound was amazing first time there as will most likely go back for Mgla and Sadistic Intent. LP wise I already have everything so I didn't even look at those but I wanted that 1970's wizard shirt and was told by Van would be a good chance of them having it at the gigs.
