Title: Solitude Aeturnus - Through The Darkest Hour
Post by: Slaughterday on January 28, 2021, 11:20:20 PM
Any other fans of this one? Definitely overshadowed by the first two incredible albums, but worth a listen. Strong Alice In Chains influence on certain tracks which really shouldn't work for a doom band, but they manage to blend both styles somehow. Was never a massive fan of the albums after this though.

Great album. Has some of their best stuff in there if you ask me.

What followed was solid, but never grabbed my attention in the same way as the first three did. Downfall has its moments in suppose, including a really great Christian Death cover.

Going to have to hoke out both Adagio and Alone over the weekend and give them another listen.

Have four SA albums but this ain't one.A little perturbed by the AiC reference there ,Robert Lowe channelling Layne Stayley doesn't sound good

It's moreso the guitar work on some tunes that sounds AIC to my ears - although the vocals do sound deeper and more aggressive than the previous albums. A few straight up doom tracks on there as well though.
