Title: Wytch Hazel
Post by: Eoin McLove on November 17, 2020, 07:39:43 PM
Playing 'III: Pentecost' at the minute. These guys have to be one of the most consistent bands on the go. A lot of new heavy metal bands seem too gimmicky to me. I get a sense of the bemulleted LARPer about a lot of it, whereas Wytch Hazel sound completely uncontrived while also being stuck unashamedly in the 70s and 80s. I think this one (and 'Pure Black Energy' for that matter) will be on repeat in the car for the foreseeable.

I haven't got to listen to this yet. II sent me on a Jethro Tull, Wishbone Ash and Uriah Heep spiral after listening to it. Ii was also probably the best album I heard on 2018. I gotta get on this

Each album is a winner. Kind of interchangeable but in a good way.

For some reason I was expecting a standard retro heavy metal approach from these guys. Listening now and really liking the sound of this.
