Title: Discogs question
Post by: Eoin McLove on October 07, 2020, 09:58:45 PM
On Discogs when it says promo in the CD description does that mean it's a copy that was sent out for free to be reviewed, and likely has no booklet?

It's a promotional copy. Might be a slip jacket or something with just a cover and CD but no extra pages on the inlay card. Pretty cool in it's own way but if it's artwork and lyrics you're after you won't be getting it(at least that's my experience with promo copies).

Edit: that's the definition but might mean something else on Discogs..doubt it tho.

I've seen CD-R's going on there for sick coin. Can't understand it myself but sure saying I don't understand also provides the response.

I always hated CDrs as a demo option.

Yeah they are fucking cat. A good old tape is the gold standard for demos

I once bought a signed copy of the Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls directly from Jinx. The CD was actually a CD-R!

And don't bother with test pressings either, no print, no cover and sometimes don't play at all.

Test presses are shite, yeah. I have a couple from WOTH and could never understand why people would be fucked collecting them.
