Title: Darts
Post by: G-Force on August 25, 2020, 02:58:30 PM
With the PDC Premier League restarting tonight with six straight nights of action I reckon it's time for a darts thread.

Any fans on here?

Best leg of darts there, shame Van Gerwen was involved.

Over the last few months I've started to get back into playing darts again, I played a lot when younger and was decent but an attack of dartitis in the 90's stopped me playing. Picked them up again in 2006 to 2008 and was playing well then fell away again. I'm up and running again now with a nice new Blade6 + and mission lighting system and enjoying it again, hope I can stick with it.

Enjoyed the masters over the weekend, this format works well I think, its great to settle down to a set of semis and a final all in one evening!!

I've no room to hang a board here or I'd have mine up, haven't thrown regularly since I moved home after my father died (2009). I'd say the board is rock hard now. All the one anyway, I was always shite!

By coincidence, I had to do a manual handling course last week, went to the break room for tae halfway through and there was a manky, burst, horsehair board and darts there. Threw 100 so I still have something going.

I'm revaluating my throw at the moment (sounds wild poncey I know), trying to get a proper follow through, it does help but its trying to keep it consistent and I keep falling back to old ways, the old ways stood me well but no harm in trying to better it, but then again its like a fella I was watching on youtube a few weeks ago said about DIY woodworking "so what if its a few millimetres out, we're not making fine furniture here or nuclear submarines, just enjoy the journey"

sorry about your Dad btw

Ah cheers, a long time ago now.

I always had a problem with pushing the dart, no matter how hard I tried to smooth it out and follow through properly I constantly fell bank into the habit. Add a short temper, lack of patience and lack of practice into the mix and I'd have a long way to go to be any way good at all these days.

There isn't even a decent pub with a board in town anymore, one time every pub had a board. My mother worked in a couple of pubs when I was a kid, I'd go there after school and that's where I learned to throw (see also: playing pool). The good old days. Now you'd have Tusla onto you if you had a child in a pub regularly like that.

As a kid myself and a friend used to play darts with a board propped up against a turf stack  :abbath: I'm not sure if we made allowances for wind deflection though!

Littler v Searle, who the fuck does their hair?

Searle reminds me of Rory Kinnear in Penny Dreadful, can't get it out of my head.

Littler's a little shit, can't deny his ability and I know he's still a kid but his attitude is irritating. He's fired his manager, expect interest from the taxman in a year or two.

Was easy work for Littler against a man that's visually impaired, which I'd imagine is quite the handicap in darts 😄

This other semi-final is class so far.

Match of the championship, they were both on fire at one stage. It'd be nice to see Van Veen win tomorroe, always nice to see someone new win it.

Great semi final, there was not much difference in legs won, Anderson was unlucky, I hope van Veen hammers Littler, who is talented as fuck but extremely unlikeable, and there's just something about his hair that fucks me off

Should be a good final. Really disappointed for Searle as he was lethal in the previous rounds but didnt bring his A game. If he performed like the last round it would have been a lot closer.

Yep. Gotta hand it to Litteler - he's a cunt, but also a beast at the okky.

Ya, first set was a banger and then he just never stopped. Fair play to him anyway.

I didn't bother with it, I knew how it was going to go so what was the point?
