The debut Mooncitadel album has been announced for release by Werewolf Records for sometime this year. I really like the demo and EP material. It's catchy, epic and full of atmosphere, so I have high expectations for the album. There's a song up on YouTube now. I'll give it a few spins and see what it does for me.

Love the vocals, raw, old school black metal. Be very interested to hear more of these lads.
If you haven't heard Moon Calls to Wander... I'd recommend checking it out. It's a fantastic mix of old school feeling and creative, unique riffing. I think it's the business. I find myself going back more and more to that type of black metal than the more overtly modern sounding bands, these days.
'Night's Scarlet Symphonies' is available now. Fired in an order with MoD. I also nabbed a copy of the new Circle of Dawn album, 'Savonian Supremacy'. Can't wait to hear both of these as both bands have been writing some truly savage and catchy BM over the past few years.
Mooncitadel are good. Circle of Dawn is a new name to me. I'll have to check them out.
They are a different kettle of fish but they are really good.
Never heard of the band before and checked out that track in the OP, purely because I liked their name.
This is some good shit. I don't listen to a lot of BM so the vocals might take a bit of getting used to, but the atmosphere is savage.
Cool man. Yeah, they have their own little vibe going on while generally sounding pretty traditional. I think they are great.
That Circle of Dawn album you always played in the car was great. Saw a few geads of RoD say this was much better.
The Mooncitadel preview track is deadly.
I saw that too but the same people were saying that they didn't like the first album so I'm not sure what to expect from the new one. It might be quite different.
There's another new Mooncitadel song online from an EP that Out of the Dungeon are releasing early next year. It's maybe their most direct song to date. It sounds decent but is perhaps missing a little something. Might be a grower, of course.
The Mooncitadel stuff is excellent - must check out the other recs in the thread.
Giving Night's Scarlet Symphonies its maiden voyage now. It sounds monumental.
Have given it a good few listens on the tubes. Cracking album.
Jaysus, the guitar tone on this is lethal.
Really getting great mileage out of this album over the last couple of weeks.
I'd never heard if this band until the other thread about black metal being in rude health.
I'm waiting on this to arrive. What I've heard sounds excellent. I haven't pulled the trigger on the demos yet. Have to count the pennies at the moment.
The demos are well worth getting.
The stuff I've heard from them is savage. The songwriting is on point.
Have ye given his main/original band Stormheit a go? I find it pretty ropey from what I've heard. The sublime mixed with the toe curling. Similar to listening to Viking era Bathory haha!
The man is also a quality live member of Goatmoon in the no fucks given Finnish style. Done a star turn in a recent live gig on Steel TV.
I haven't listened to Stormheit but I've been meaning to. I'll have to check them out later if I remember to.
My Night's Scarlet Symphonies long sleeve arrived from Hell's Headbangers today. It looks great but it's a medium on the slightly smaller end of the spectrum and the material feels a bit on the light side. No doubt it'll be riddled with holes in a month. Sure it'll look more authentic so I can tell everyone I picked it up in the 80s and earn a few extra points.
I've ordered the album from hellsheadbangers yesterday. I've never ordered from them before.
They have some wild shipping options to choose from!
I'm really looking forward to getting it.
Hearing the shirt is poor quality is a balls. I didn't order the shirt even though it's crying out to me.
It'll be a gentle wear alright
Did you order the LP from HH? I still haven't bothered with the LP as the postage is hellish.
Cd. The record player I have is one of those all in one things that sounds dreadful. It's only fit for the kids Winnie the Pooh records.
The cd including delivery is working out around €13.
Can't get better than that really.
Aren't they based in the US? I stopped ordering from them a few years back after some fairly nasty shipping charges. Must check to see how much they've dropped.
They mailed me today to say it's on the way.
The delivery cost seemed really low.
For a shirt it gets quite high.
Ironbonehead want €6/7 to post the Hulder album.
I don't know why it's so much more from them.
They are extremely Germanic in their correspondence too.
Efficient and to the point? I got an Insect Warfare boxset from an Italian punk label (FOAD, I think) a while back and, apart from the fact that it took fucking ages for anything to happen, it was like they responded using a Commodore 64, basic is the word.
To the point in the extreme but also bordering on " you are asking why?"
I don't know this band but it seems skme of ye lads have had some trouble getting ye're hands on physical copies. Came across Night's Scarlet Symphonies on bandcamp last night and thought someone would like a heads up. LP for sale too, very reasonable shipping.

I just saw that Mooncitadel released a mini album last April. Have any of you bought it and is it as good as the full length?
I have it but I haven't listened to it in months as it's in a shipping container, but yes, I remember thinking it was very good.
That's great thanks.
Another trip to discogs so.
Night's Scarlet Symphonies is very good. I must give the EP a listen.
I kind of forgot about Mooncitadel over the past year or two. The album didn't grip me as much as the earlier stuff when it came out. It was a bit more polished and sophisticated sounding which I didn't want from them. I liked a couple of songs but kind of let it fall away from me. I stuck it on here yesterday for the first time in ages and it's beginning to really get under my skin after a couple of consecutive listens. The 6th song is truly epic- it's reminiscent of Macabre Omen in fact. I never picked up on that before. I'll have to grab the follow up EP off the shelf next for more quality time.
I had it on in the car the other day.
It still love it. The intro to the first track feels and sounds massive. It is polished but I didn't mind that.
It's very bright sounding.
Yup. It's hitting the mark more now. I liked it when I got it but I just let it gather dust over time so it's good to revisit it with fresh ears.

How you described the album was my impression of it at the time, I didn't sit with it for much time really. The MO shout definitely piqued my interest, I'll revisit for sure.
I think the MLP that out of the dungeon released a year or two ago is far better than the full length. The Empire of Tharaphita discography comp was also released recently that is all pre Mooncitadel material.
I have both. I haven't spent enough time with the EP but the EoT comp was cool. Another one to revisit.
I see they have a new EP coming out with truly gimpish looking artwork, but I've enjoyed all they've put out so far so I look forward to hearing it. They also plan on recording a new full length early next year.
I've spent the morning listening to Onyx Castles and Night's Scarlet Symphonies 8)
What label is the ep on and is the comp on the same one?
Out of the Dungeon.
