Title: Crypt Sermon - Out of The Garden
Post by: Slaughterday on December 08, 2018, 11:29:31 AM
Excellent doom from the US. Had heard this album when it came out in 2015 on Dark Descent but somehow only got around to buying it recently. It's the perfect mix of early Candlemass and Griftegard, both musically and lyrically. New album coming in 2019 too.

Great album. Catchy, heavy and some lovely playing on it.

Yes the playing on it is fucking class. The lead playing is worthy of Lars Johansson himself.

I miss having great guitar work in doom metal. John Perez from Solitude Aeturnus loves to rip it up as well, especially on the first 2 albums.

Can't see another dedicated Crypt Sermon thread, so going to resurrect this one.

It's been a while so I'll have to go back today and listen to Out of the Garden and The Ruins of Fading Light, but did the singer always sound as much like Robert Lowe as he does on The Stygian Rose??

On a second listen of it here, digging it a lot, just maybe strikes me as a little busy overall..?

Yeah they've definitely mentioned that S.A/Lowe is a huge influence on them

Cool... but am I just imagining the Lowe element is stronger than ever on the new one? Maybe.

Gave it a listen this morning, think they share a member with Obsequiae who are phenomenal. Cool album alright.
